Does not read unlocked wireless networks

I'm running lubuntu 12.04 and i've into an issue borrowing free wifi; my computer won't recognize a network as unlocked and asks for a password. All the available networks dont show up as either locked or unlocked it just has a list of available networks. I know the one that i want to use is actually unlocked because i'm using it on my shitty phone to post this thread.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks

What are you using to connect? Wicd, Network Manager, wifi-radar?

Maybe you should click on the continue button without entering the password..it won't ask further..try it..i think your problem will get resolved..
