I posted this before but with mint 21 out thought it might be of interest again to some people.
deb-get is a nifty little tool that allows installing 3rd party apps just like they would be installed if they were native apps.
It will work on all Ubuntu and derivative distros, including Mint. Was developed by the Ubuntu Mate Crew.

Works on Debian 11 too ! ;-)
 
"-get" is becoming old hat, in most cases the latest distributions do not use it, [sudo apt-get install ****** is just sudo apt install *****]

Yep, your right apt-get is old hat. But this is not apt it's deb-get :) Different animal. Though apt-get still works with many commands apt is the preferred method today. Here's a write up on the differences between the two commands (apt v apt-get)

It is also in my thread about Package managers:

deb-get - apt-get functionality for .debs published in 3rd party repositories or via direct download.

It doesn't play nice on rpios since the builds it wants to install are for amd64.
bauh is pretty nice as well.
