Hmm... You use Mint as I recall.
Open your file manager (Nemo is the default) and press F9.
That should do it, assuming you've not changed your file manager to something else.
You can also click (at the top) Sidebar > Show Sidebar.

I might refrain from being sarcastic with those who are trying to help you based on the extremely limited amount of information that you'd provided.
You can't waltz into a community of experts and complain about something that really isn't that complicated simply because you've not put forth the effort to learn how to use the system properly.
We're glad to help, but complaining isn't going to earn you any cool kids points; especially considering that there are so many people on this forum that use various linux distro's on the daily without a single issue at all. 99% of the time, it's user ignorance/user error.
You did not provide any operating system information, no system specs, no details that would really even contribute to aiding anyone in helping you what so ever.
Suppose the reason I feel a way about this is because spite your lack of details provided, KGIII responded in an effort to help, and while I don't know him personally, I know enough to know dude seems to be the kind of individual that has a rather busy life; and yet you responded with even less detail than before and added a near comical bit of sarcasm about it as though it's somehow "Linux" fault that you don't know what you're doing 0_o.
Cmon man, use some logic and common decency. Give us some details or go back to windows
I back the go back to windows option. This OP has been all over complaining about linux but not taking help. GO BACK TO WINDOZE I am sure bill will help you personally.
What desktop environment are you using? Since you're on Mint (supposedly, all of us trying to help are forced to guess) you are probably using either Cinnamon, Mate, or Xfce. If you're running Mate, I can help. Go to View in the menu bar and unselect Side Pane.
They're a bit notorious around here.
They're using Linux Mint Cinnamon, some 20+ version.
The directions I gave the correct directions to remove the panel on the left, which is what they asked.
I'm pretty sure Wiz gave 'em a vacation for this sort of stuff in the past. I'm not sure why I bothered this time. I normally ignore their posts other than skimming to check for content that needs moderation.
It may be time for them to take another vacation. I could be convinced that they're a fairly clever troll masquerading as a help-vampire.
I thought I recognized this one and if it is the one I and you think, they are just trolls. Looking for any reason to say Linux is bad. I say do not feed the trolls. Other people out there actually need help and this one is taking away from that.
I would think it's better to clean the topics of this former user up, as in the user was removed from the forum?
That's above my paygrade. Well, I might be able to do it manually but that's a choice I'd leave for an admin.
The problem is, as I see it, that removing his threads will not just remove his comments but will also remove all sorts of comments from other people. We tend to not do that.

My choice, I chose not to - easier for me to find his threads should I need to.
