I suspect like most of us, I enjoy fiddling with an OS I install until I make it as I like it. I amend the appearance, usability, and applications.

I would like know the options for creating an ISO from an existing installation. Purely for personalish use obviously. My reasons for asking are that I would be able to install on other laptops (belonging to me) and not have to go through the hassle of installing plank, downloading themes, setting up tlp, etc. etc. etc.

Is it more hassle than just setting up a machine every time? If not, what apps/etc can I use to make a custom iso?

I haven't done it in a number of years but this page maybe of help to you.
