Control Fans

Hello,
I have an ASUS G74S laptop, This thing is like a tank. I use it primarily as a server, the machine just turned 1 and one thing thats always bothered me is the fan control. The fans automagically adjust themselves but i have no idea what is doing it since no software i can find can detect them. the fans wait till it hits 75 centigrade and then go full blast and kick it down to 40 but i want them to stay at a rate that never lets it get hot in the first place. I'm not worrying about battery drain since it's always plugged in to the wall.

-Kernel 3.2.0-37-generic
output from pwmconfig
# pwmconfig revision 5857 (2010-08-22)
This program will search your sensors for pulse width modulation (pwm)
controls, and test each one to see if it controls a fan on
your motherboard. Note that many motherboards do not have pwm
circuitry installed, even if your sensor chip supports pwm.

We will attempt to briefly stop each fan using the pwm controls.
The program will attempt to restore each fan to full speed
after testing. However, it is ** very important ** that you
physically verify that the fans have been to full speed
after the program has completed.

/usr/sbin/pwmconfig: There are no fan-capable sensor modules installed

any help is appreciated
