So I installed a testing version of latest Zorin on a usb, each partition individually.
I cannot find a setting for when I close the lid on the laptop that nothing happens (instead of the screen going black, only the turn on button shines, otherwise the machine looks unresponsive).
Why is this missing? Is it not commonly used setting among users?

Also, when I was installing efi partition, I had a choice of Efi from the drop down menu (when installing as 'something else'), but the mount point was blank. Me guided by the chatbot, I went for formatting efi partition as fat32 and then I could manually put the /boot/efi directory into it. The chat bot recommended it as a safer option. But then I had warning messages that the installer couldn't find the efi partition (to be formatted by the installation) and the disk might not boot (it did). Also the installer detected efi from the LMDE on the nvme drive, and didn't want to proceed with me directing bootloader installation into the sdb drive, the usb where I was installing Zorin. I had to indicate for my efi on nvme to 'do not use this partition', then I could proceed with installation. Maybe it makes sense, but I found it pretty annoying and confusing, especially when I specified I wanted to install the bootloader onto the sdb drive. Why is it giving me this choice and then still looks at the nvme efi partition at the same time?

G'day @Trynna3

In a blank spot on your desktop
  • right-click and choose Display Settings (not just Settings)
  • choose Privacy =>> Screen
and see if any of the options is suitable for you.

Other than that, I have no ideas, don't use my Zorin often enough.

Maybe it makes sense,...

The Zorin installer is Ubiquity, developed by Ubuntu.

When you choose the "Other" option to have control over partitioning, if you have more than drive, then with any ESP (EFI System Partition) on the other drives, you need to choose them and choose "Do not use this partition", which you have done.

For the drive you are installing to, if it has previously been an empty drive, or cleared, use GParted to establish the drive's own ESP (but if the drive already has one or more Linux installs on it, do not format it), and choose the mount option for /boot/efi only.

It sounds as if you have done just that.

Thanks, I'll have another look when I boot into Zorin.
