I had a ton of games installed in Lutris, deleted most of them except 2 but now the problem is that old games which no longer exist are still showing up in start menu -> wine:

remnants.png

But currently there are only two installed:

current_games.png

How to delete those remnants from start menu?

I'd prefer a standard method rather than some hackery if possible.

edit:

btw. I have tried sweeper program a while ago, but that program is just bad, is screwed up my system and since then didn't reinstall it.

I have zero experience with wine....so this is a shot in the dark

in particular, this answer...

Type in a terminal or press Alt+F2 and type wine uninstaller will give you access to the built in Add/Remove tool from wine. From there you can uninstall a program you have installed in a bottle.

To completely remove the bottle for your user (and thus remove everything from a wine bottle and start again) you can open a terminal and type rm -rf ~/.wine or as an alternative open Nautilus and in your home folder press Ctrl+H, locate the .wine folder and delete it. wine will create a new folder next time you try to use it.

Thank you @Condobloke
This is useful to remove the bottle for my user account which I didn't know, and also I didn't know I should run uninstaller to uninstall specific game prior to removing it from Lutris which deletes installation but not remnants.

Btw. I also found this:

The procedure is a bit outdated but I managed to pin down directories to remove remnants, which are as follows:

  • ~/.local/share/applications/wine-protocol*.desktop
  • ~/.local/share/desktop-directories/
  • ~/.local/share/icons/hicolor/*/apps/
TODO: One of the below two will also clear Wine subfolder from application menu
  • ~/.local/share/applications/wine/Programs/
  • ~/.config/menus/applications-merged/wine-*.menu

  • ~/.local/share/mime/application/x-wine-extension*
  • ~/.local/share/mime/packages/x-wine-extension*
  • ~/.local/share/applications/wine-extension*.desktop
