So all of this because the USB stick I used was in some faulty state and none of the software using it could give expected and solid results - with an exception of lsusb.
Let's see how next one will behave.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. Most of the software is just a frontend for a collection of smaller core utilities and kernel API calls.
The reason lsusb works is because it doesn't try to read it as a block device, only as a USB device. All it gleans is what the product ID's itself as. It's only if ya try to read it that problems begin.
