I've tried every link to download Lubuntu and always get the same error message:
Unable to connect

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at cdimage.ubuntu.com.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Never had this issue with other distros. Is there a cmd line entry I can use for direct download of the iso.

I'm not a NOOB, just too stubborn to ask, until now. thank you

It's not a distro problem... the Lubuntu links work fine (with my Firefox). So your trouble must be either Firefox itself, or your network connection, like your error message says. Here are the Lubuntu links again below (latest 19.10 or long-term version 18.04.3). Instead of clicking them, you might try right-click and choose "Save Link As" to see if that works. If that still doesn't work, try restarting Firefox in safe mode (instructions) and try to download again. You might try another browser too. If it still doesn't work, the network connection is all that's left. Good luck!

Long Term Support (LTS) version 18.04.3 - this is the one I'd recommend
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/18.04/release/lubuntu-18.04.3-desktop-amd64.iso

Latest version 19.10
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/19.10/release/lubuntu-19.10-desktop-amd64.iso

To more completely answer your question (and if all the above fails)... yes, you can download from the command line too. Use the wget command with the links given above. The download will be stored in whatever folder you are in when you begin. But if your trouble is your network connection (firewall?), this may fail also. No need for sudo to issue these commands:
Code:
wget http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/18.04/release/lubuntu-18.04.3-desktop-amd64.iso
or
Code:
wget http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/19.10/release/lubuntu-19.10-desktop-amd64.iso

Cheers

If the main cdimage.ubuntu.com download link fails - it's most likely a connection related problem. But this could be due to any number of things.

If you are completely unable to connect to the main download site, you should search for a mirror that is located in a country that is closer to your location.

Almost all distros maintain a list of official mirrors from which you can download any available versions.

For Ubuntu, see:

19.04 is long since expired.

Your options are 18.04, 20.04, and 20.10.

The official Lubuntu site is https://lubuntu.me - not to be confused with another Lubuntu domain.

If you have trouble downloading the .iso, your best choice is to use the magnet/torrent links to the right of the standard downloads, located here: https://lubuntu.me/downloads/

Using the magnet links (they look like magnets) will automatically resume if you have connection issues and will automatically verify your download's integrity.

EDIT: I just noticed this thread is *really* old. The answer remains correct for those viewing it.
