Hi there,

I fail to create a bootable install of Fedora 37 on my somewhat antique MBP.

I'm using a USB drive that I created with Fedora Media Writer

I get the following error message twice during the installation:

---
The following error occurred while installing the boot loader. The system will not be bootable.

Failed to set new efi boot target. This is most likely a kernel or firmware bug.
--

I've already tried the fix described here (delete old dump files). That wasn't the problem though. In my case there are no dump files in the way.

Anybody out there who can help? - Much appreciated!

Hello! I am having the very same issue on my Macbook Air 2011. Are you perhaps using Ventoy while installing Fedora? I suspect it may be the culprit. When Fedora 37 tries to create an EFI partiton, it creates a 600MB HFS partiton instead of FAT32. There is something strange going on.

Okay, I guess I missed that. I suspected that it could be some Ventoy problem, but it seems I was wrong. Our Macbooks are considered UEFI I guess? Maybe doing manual partitioning during installation could solve our problem? However, I've never done manual partitioning in Anaconda.

When Fedora 37 tries to create an EFI partiton, it creates a 600MB HFS partiton instead of FAT32.
As you know, HFS was the default file system of OSX before APFS.
