Hello..

I was wondering...I send links of files thru Google Drive, One Drive etc but can I just create a hyperlink of those same files that are on my External HD myself and send that link via email and cut out Google, Microsoft.

Lets say I want to send an mp3 file link over email so someone can click on my link and download it. Can this be done?

Thanks in advance. Heres a screenshot of my file system just for reference.

Your bottleneck here are...

If your HDD even have Wifi features to begin with AND
If your ISP (your Internet Service Provider) even allow outbound connections for those to even work.

Assuming all of that are true I don't see why not you couldn't create your own "private cloud".

Failing that you would have to rent a Nextcloud service where they give you own instance of Nextcloud and storage amount and then you can share through that and such.

You are most certainly welcomed. If that the case you may consider the final option of ordering the service. Since they will handle it all for you yet be supposedly more private than the big name stuffs (Google Drive, Drive, and so on).
