Can a linux DE be compiled/installed onto android?

So android is a linux based distro from my knowledge, I would have asked this on android forums but i believe i can find better answers here as this forum is for linux... and android is based on that, so does anyone know a way to get mate, lxde, or cinnamon installed and configured to run on android?

Hoping to find someone with an answer, i dont like the launchers available for android and im trying to replace my computers with my phone

I haven't tried it so I suggest you take your time and do it right. Be careful and think about what you are going to do before you do it. I wouldn't want to find out that something went wrong and turned your phone into a brick.
