Since it comes with DOS, I want to use linux on it. Will I be able to?

Yes, but you may have to invest a little time in setting it up, several members have Lenovo's
use the search for "Lenovo laptop" and have a read of some possible problems

fingerprint reader.....I am not sure if that will work...?

You may want a distro with a fairly modern kernel. The Ubuntu family will be at 22.04 (LTS) soon, so that may be worth considering.

I've managed to get a fingerprint reader working in the past. I was blessed with good compatibility and it went smoothly, however I found it more a gimmick as my devices don't really leave the house much. I find it much more useful on the phone.
