Books are Worthless Nowadays.

You can still burn books because book burning seems to be a thing we as the human race enjoy doing.

Over half my reading is done on a e-reader, but I certainly wouldn't call books useless. They can't be remotely deleted or "updated", and many collectors find their physical presence attractive, especially volumes that are well done. Of course, the attraction of a book depends on its subject: most people don't have the patience to thumb through big recipe books, and home repair videos are arguably more useful to DIYers than printed instructions. Booktubers are still buying them by the boxes..

The Pendle Witch will only read the printed page, she has no interest in electronic readers, hell i have a quiet life as she could not even turn on the computer to save herself.

Before you throw books away, though, consider checking with local libraries, schools, or charity shops. They often accept donations and can give the books a new home. Also, some recycling centers handle old books. It’s a good way to make sure they don’t just end up in the trash.
Library told us to toss them in a dumpster.

Schools weren't interested although would accept donations for Chromebooks.

Most of the books we had were old school books we used when we went to college so pretty dated.

Seems all of the institutions are using tablets and Chromebooks.

If the prison wasn't so far away and we weren't in our 70s we would've taken them there where I bet they would've taken them.

No one wants anything nowadays but money to get whatever it is they are using.

I like books, it not the same curled up in bed with an iPad.

I have a large collection of military history, I reckon crimes would be very interested in the escape and evasion section.

You could donate them to your local library's Friends group. Many libraries sell or repurpose donated books.

No one wants books nowadays leastwise technical books or educational books.

We have a thriving used bookstore at our local library which sells donated books of every kind, including technical books. So, I guess that "no one wants books nowadays" may be a bit too broad.

Since your local library has a thriving used bookstore which sells donated books of every kind, including technical books.

I'll contact you the next time and you can come and pick them up and re-purpose them.

I did my part I called around and drove a few different places to try and repurposed the used books and no luck.

I wasted to much time on a useless effort when I should have just tossed them in the trash can in the first place.

If a person is willing to drive all over town to try and re-purpose stuff, junk, etc they no longer want they can find a place for it.

I'm not that person I'm old and really don't care anymore it's easier to toss stuff away or just set it on fire as @f33dm3bits posted.

I've found a use for all of my old outdated books that I no longer use, need, or find useful.

OK then... You'd think/expect/assume that maybe a thesaurus would have stopped/halted/arrested most any slug/projectile/bullet.

Personally I'd have soaked the books in a barrel of water making them denser which is what I've done with telephone books I shot.

The library was the first place that told me they didn't want them and to just toss them in a dumpster.
Had the same experience with the libraries here. My mother has collected more than 3000 books that I now pay storage on. Even goodwill won't take them.
