Most of the books we had were old school books we used when we went to college so pretty dated.

Personally I'd have soaked the books in a barrel of water making them denser which is what I've done with telephone books I shot.OK then... You'd think/expect/assume that maybe a thesaurus would have stopped/halted/arrested most any slug/projectile/bullet.
