That would be fun if only I had the time brother. These distros all look like overkill for my casual needs but I wouldn't mind using a distro that offered additional layers of security and privacy out of the box.

... although these packages need to be installed, they are likely already in your Repos, just check in Synaptic.

Also I take it you have your firewall enabled?

I can't say that that is untrue. Between a firewall on your LInux and a firewall at your Router, many of us Linuxers don't even feel a need to use AV or anti-Malware products, myself included.

But you are the driver behind the steering wheel of the vehicle that is your computer and your Linux. So the choices are yours.
