I have installed the Latest version of Mint on an external usb drive. It boots and works fine. The main computer is running Windows 10. Grub sees the Windows 10 launcher and will boot windows it it is selected.
If I load, Windows 10, however, after I shut it down, the computer no longer sees the Mint USB drive. If I go into the bios settings and alter the boot settings and save the changes the machine will once again see the USB drive, but only once. At the next boot it bypasses all the USB ports and ignores the hotkey. Writing the bios will again restore the reading of the USB ports and boot Mint but only once. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Nice links @Rob! Here's another one that explains the problem pretty clearly and details how to disable fast start from within Windows 10.

Cheers
