From time to time I get complaints from people about battery life on Linux.
Here is a fellow that has outlined battery optimization procedures you can use on Ubuntu and Mint. Perhaps other ubuntu base distros as well. Some may even work on Debian.
That can gain you up to 50% better battery life. I have used slimbookbattery for quite some time. And it has worked well for me.

Very rare that I actually use the battery on any laptop. Indoors it's plugged-in to the mains......and when I sit outside with it during the summer, I have a reel extension run out from the garage, which is close by. So I'm still on the mains.

I will occasionally run it on battery till it gets down to around 20%.....then I'll charge it up again. Just to 're-condition' the thing.
