Audacious Music Player

Does it provide visualization of sounds captured by the laptop's microphone in real-time? If not then just watch me continue to ignore it the same as the many years before.

I would hardly call Audacious "simple". To be honest, I have a hard time calling it a music player.
It does play music, but it does a lot more. It's a sound recorder, multi-track mixer, editor.

I would say Parole and VLC are more simple Music players.

Audacious is the only music app that plays my audiobooks correctly.

Audacious is an open source audio player. A descendant of XMMS, Audacious plays your music how you want it, without stealing away your computer’s resources from other tasks. Drag and drop folders and individual song files, search for artists and albums in your entire music library, or create and edit your own custom playlists. Listen to CD’s or stream music from the Internet. Tweak the sound with the graphical equalizer or change the dynamic range with audio effects. Enjoy the modern Qt-themed interface or change things up with Winamp Classic skins. Use the plugins included with Audacious to fetch lyrics for your music, display a VU meter, and more.

I suppose I was confused with audacity.

Used Audacious for many years, it's been rock solid. I like its convenience as a drag and drop file player from a samba server using fully named files and album folders.

Completely agree, Audacious is rock solid. I tried several music players, maybe with an impressive graphical interface, but none as solid and efficient as Audacious.

I'm curious how do you guys collect audio files (music) in large enough quantities to be a solid replacement for YT music?
For this reason I find any kind of audio player software to be a bit old fashioned, in regard to times when YT still did not exist.

Today who ever is interested in playing music on their PC locally will simply go to YT to listen to music they want.

I have about 50 GB of music files stored in USB Sticks and other music on CD, so I listen to my favorite music whenever I want, and if I want to add some new music I just have to download it.

Both local and remote playback have their use, one because i get spectral adjustments not available with the other, which may become a must with bone-conduction when bass already been boosted...

The Official site.

The Official downloads site.

The Official forum.

I've used Audacious in the past without complaints and if memory serves me seems I used to rip CDs from YouTube using Audacious.

Can you please elaborate?

Hummm... My guess is this would happen to be about the obscure part of it, as that's not mainstream:

Google Search: AfterShokz "General Faqs"

There's a couple illustrations available via Google Images, as for audio spectrum i'm sure we all seen an equalizer before.

The one main issue when dealing with YT will result from bass rendering that's usually adequate for TV-like videos except when i switch to music: these "Open-Ear" headphones are so intense they can hurt, but i like my OpenMove set too much so that's when i end up downloading since the few browser equalizers i've tried simply don't work for some odd reason. So instead of a FireFox solution i may finally rely on VLC, not to mention when i'm on the balcony YT randomly interrupts a relaxing moment requiring to return to the NoteBook which i usually leave inside just a few feet away. VLC accepts remote commands fine, i can pause or skip at the command of my fingertip. Otherwise i'd stick to YT's interface if it worked fine...

Another thing i appreciate most with bone-conduction is that it doesn't disconnect me from the environment at all. It lets me move around, cook, visit the refrigerator, etc. Anser the phone when it rings - actually, if i had got an iPhone or similar it would be compatible too. So, what can i say. Life would be dull without it, it's my 3rd pair! But the bass boosting on YT, oh my goodness. It's gross sometimes, expecially the percussions. Which is when i need to tame it down with an equalizer or i'd loose the rest of my earing that's left!!
