Apt updating problems, need help to resolve this.

I'm vheckin
lets take a look at your DNS connection it should look something like this
View attachment 20949
where it says server 192.168.1.3 the line below it should be blank type in 8.8.8.8 into that line and click apply - maybe your local DNS is corrupted not letting you reach all websites so the 8.8.8.8 is for Goggle server - once done reboot or you can run sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager and check sudo apt update again
I'm checking right after applying time shift since I took out the brave browser. But I will be back to square one again. The whole problem started when I could not get my wifi started and eventually found "sudo modprobe wl" command to link up my internet.

I could not get my wifi started - sudo modprobe wl
Before doing anything else lets take a look at your WiFi adapter
this sudo modprobe wl is usually associated with Broadcom WiFi adapters
what is the output of
lspci -vnn | grep -i net
post back the results of each

open your synaptic package manager and search for - firmware-brcm80211 to see if it is installed or not as well as broadcom-sta-common

In order for me to upgrade from Linux Mint 20.3 21.3, it would be necessary first to access the link However, my access to certain websites are restricted. On this one I get a message: "

This site can’t be reached

is unreachable.

ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE"

Some websites are available such as youtube, facebook and linux.org, but others such as X (twitter) are not.
This is why the update manager is not working.

So I need to get over this obstacle first to upgrade.
Any ideas?
Use ip a to see if your network interface has both an IPv4 and IPv6 address. Some websites have IPv6, but not all of them do. If your network is only using IPv6 will not be able to connect to websites that only use IPv4.

Be careful with your choice of DNS providers. Asking Google 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 tells Google everywhere you go. Google loves data. You might try Cloudfare at 1.1.1.1.

I have the same Broadcom wi-fi as you
go to the software manager in the search box put Broadcom and enter, make sure yours has the same boxes ticked as mine

When I do a clean install of Mint Cinnamon...I'm asked do you want to connect to the internet...of course I do.

I then select my Wi-Fi...enter my Wi-Fi password and I'm right to go...this only applies to a Laptop. Once the Distro is installed...one of the first things I do is change my DNS from my ISP's...very important.

If I didn't encrypt my DNS I'd choose Cloudflare 1.1.1.1,1.0.0.1 you must type it as shown and don't forget the comma.
