Apt updating problems, need help to resolve this.

I said in my post #17 - If you try to upgrade with this error it will most likely still be there after the upgrade since it is not a Mint issue and will be copied over to the upgrade, since that repository does not exist on Mint

we need to fix these errors first then you can upgrade

to get to root simply right click inside that folder and select "Open as root"

your repository list has a bunch of errors

What is your suggestion?
to be honest, if it were me I would not waste any further time on it, I would save all files and folders to an external source and install either mint LMDE6 or the latest Ubuntu based mint 21.

Guys! I'm an old man, Giving up will not serve as a solution, then again, nobody is obligated to help me with this.

If I knew the solution, then it I would gladly post it so this would be a lesson to others in the future.
So if you are willing, then walk me though this.

Today being the 4th, I dont expect anyone be sitting and resolving something that Linux Mint should had been able to resolve after many years of research and development. Right?

Me I turn 65 in Nov - your solution is to replace the corrupted repositories with new ones - Suggest you go into Software Sources and change your mirrors. Click on the Main mirror and select the US server. That should probably also solve this error at least for Mint

Also what is the output of
post back the results

Guys! I'm an old man,
I'm a few years up on you [73 next week], and have been using Linux full-time for just over 20 yrs, I have seen many problems most will have a simple fix, some on the other hand may need an excessive amount of work to fix,
I look for a Ballance of time/effort over result.

I'm 67, right in the middle! I guess you all know that going back to Microsoft (cring) is not optional.
I'm checking the inxi -Sr
I've also changed mirrors, no luck.
I don't know how to replace the corrupted repositories with new ones

so it looks like your problems are caused by brave,

so you could try
sudo apt remove brave-browser brave-keyring
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave-browser-*.list

then Reinstall Brave from the mint repository [flathub] or use a different browser
note that all information from previous installation- setting, profiles, passwords bookmarks etc. will be retained from the previous installation.
All information from Brave is wiped by the above two command procedure.

I have Brave and zero problems...Uninstall Brave and install from here...https://brave.com/

If you're still having many problems...may I suggest a more stable Distro like Linux mint Cinnamon 21.3 from here...
https://www.linuxmint.com/

Hope this helps.

Thais the problem. I cannot enter the website.
Some websites I can enter such as Google, Youtube Facebook and Linux.org.
Others I cannot:
Here is what I get.

This site can’t be reached

is unreachable.

ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE

lets take a look at your DNS connection it should look something like this
1.png

where it says server 192.168.1.3 the line below it should be blank type in 8.8.8.8 into that line and click apply - maybe your local DNS is corrupted not letting you reach all websites so the 8.8.8.8 is for Goggle server - once done reboot or you can run sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager and check sudo apt update again

you can try this as well -
sudo dpkg-reconfigure resolvconf
