Can you give me some guidance on creating a bootable usb from which to install on HDD.
1 Whats the recommended size USB stick for the mirror ISO ?.
2 Whats the preferred creator for the mirror ISO downloader ?.
3 Is it wise to partition the HDD 50/50 or best left alone ?
4 I have chosen

4 I have chosen to stick with Mint however is there another flavour that could be slightly better than mint ?.
5 Where is the suggestion / instructional page for doing some basic house keeping and clearing out the junk on the system via the terminal.
Many thanks

4 I have chosen
first Install Balena Etcher from any browser you wish.
Then open it choose your iso file and your pendrive and make it bootable
1. atleast 4gb USB
2. for mint linux choose the creator in your country
3. if you are dual booting linux and windows you can do the 50/50 thing if you store large file on linux or just 50gb-100gb is enough for linux

4. For Begginers deb based linux are best especially mint and ubuntu(but ubuntu somewhere lacks on higher level usage or it is best for begginers)
5. to clear the trash at once from linux terminal use command "rm --recursive ~/Trash/*"

Min 4gb try not to go over 32gb
if you are using mint to download your next offering, then use the Mint USB writer, if using another Linux use Balena Etcher
you can manually partition the drive if you wish or you can let the installer either install alongside [dule boot] or use whole disk [this will completely destroy any files and folders on the disk

choice of distro is yours alone, what you find you like the most, what is right for me or any other member may not be right for you, no one distro is any better than another.
Dont think windows, with Linux all you need to do is delete any rubbish and empty the bin the hours you use to spend cleaning up windows is a thing of the past

And i,m stuck . i have downloaded thmint 22 file and the two checksum files.
If i goto my mint 22 file i can go down the menu and open and run a sha256checksum small window and the thing runs .
I,m a bit confused at this stage , do i need to goto the terminal window and do anything ???.
