Have finally gotten Ubuntu 24.04 installed on my dell optiplex desktop. Runs like a dream! but, my classes are using AI tools and I am wondering if there is an open source AI that is out there? I have no idea but seems like I have to pay 8 to 12 USD for a month for the one my college recommends which is ChatGPT 4.0. This is mainly for computer science and programming languages.

I utilize OpenWebUI (A chatGPT like front end) paired with Ollama and your choice of LLM. Very good self hosted FOSS setup. AnythingLLM is also a soliid option

they are embracing the AI movement and i fully understand but at the same time i see way too many relying on the AI answers and not thinking for themselves. its a bit of a catch 22. but, ive learned how to use it to help and explain not solve the entire problem for me and not think about how and why that is the answer.
