Adding cores to GNU Linux Appliance (NSX)

Good morning everyone - I am playing with an NSX distro that is hard coded to 8 cores, when I add more cores to the VM it only takes advantage of 8 max. Any pointers on adding more cores? Its running 20+ instances of PostgreSQL that are each starving for CPU. I know that Vmware wouldn't be super happy with me tampering with their OVA, but I just want to do some experimenting.
