G'day, Wiz here.
This question is perhaps best answered by our own Member @pepdebian , who is an integral part of Team Peppermint.
That being said, if anyone else thinks they have the answer, chime in.
If not, watch and learn.
BACKGROUND
I am looking to add another Peppermint to my stable, and first up went to Distrowatch and then went to Peppermint's website.
There, I found reference to a Peppermint Classic I was unaware of.

The article, written last Christmas Eve, says in part
Followed by a link to SourceForge for downloading and checksum.
That's fine.
BUT
The link at SourceForge has a header at the top saying "Peppermint-Menthol".
I downloaded anyway, and at my receiving end, in my Downloads folder, it shows as PeppermintOS-Classic.
Just wondering about the confusing nomenclature.
TIA and Avagudweegend

This Christmas marks the one-time release of Peppermint Classic, a modern re-creation of Peppermint 10, atop Debian! Whether it be an itch of nostalgia, or a preference for the old UI, Peppermint Classic has you covered. Great care has been taken to ensure functionality and where not possible sensible alternatives were used. It was a fun exercise reverse-engineering this gift for you.
We hope you enjoy using it as much we enjoyed building it. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year, Pepperminters!”
