Cinnamon "Lock Screen Off" not working

Hello All, Using Debian Bookworm with Cinnamon DTE. After looking on line, I found the way to keep the screen from automatically going to lock screen after being idle. I selected disable-lock-screen using dconf-editor but it keeps locking the screen after 10 minutes or so (see image below)...

Solved Stable branch: Error! One or more modules failed to install during autoinstall.

EUREKA! Thanks everyone for your suggestions, especially GatorsFan. I added the backports repository and successfully installed 6.5.0-0.deb12.4-amd64. Apt upgrade was still hanging and trying to configure 6.1.0.18 though so I used: apt-get --force-yes remove 6.1.0-18-amd6 Voila! No more...

Solved Stable branch: Error! One or more modules failed to install during autoinstall.

Thanks for the reply GatorsFan, I used Synaptic (see below) and see that the 6.1.0.18 selections match the ones in the image you provided above and were already selected as installed. I also ran the command sudo dpkg --configure -a but got the same results as in my above posts. Then again, I...

Solved Stable branch: Error! One or more modules failed to install during autoinstall.

Thanks for the link strombrg. Looks like Nvidia is aware of the issue at least. At this point I'll just wait and keep reading the boards. My system's not broken in any way, just can't do the kernel upgrade. I can wait for 6.1.0.18.

Problem: Rsync makes a new copy of files with each backup. Not incremental

Update: I was using Linux Lite 4.8 when I was having the above problem. Linux Lite 5.0 is out now so I installed it. I repeated the same steps with rclone and rsync and now all is well. No duplicate files. Weird.

Boot scrolling resolution just got BIG

Update: A member from another forum suggested that I add the following to /etc/default/grub: GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=1024x768x32 I ran update-grub and it fixed the issue. Again, I really appreciate you guys being willing to look into this for me. Take Care, cj

Boot scrolling resolution just got BIG

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for your interest in my case! I've been running Debian for a few years and have never run into this before. Resolution with everything else is fine. Its not a big deal but more like a hair in my mouth- cant't seem to ignore it. At least with that I can jut reach...

Boot scrolling resolution just got BIG

Hi All, When I reboot Debian Bulleseye, I get the normal boot messages before the log in screen (please see attached image). Keeps saying "OK" in green with a boot item next to it. Suddenly the resolution has changes and now the messages are huge, not 1024x768 like it used to be. Which config...

Problem: Rsync makes a new copy of files with each backup. Not incremental

Sorry for the late response. I've decided to just use my USB drive to back up to. My main Debian computer rsync backs up exactly as it should with incremental back up jobs. Maybe I'll try and tackle this another time with the laptop in question. I do really appreciate the time and interest...

Problem: Rsync makes a new copy of files with each backup. Not incremental

I've created a fresh GDrive account for testing and mounted it via rclone as before. I used the rsync -av only, as recommended above and performed two rsync backups. Again, two copies of each file on Google Drive. If I do a third backup as previously, it should create a third copy. Needless...

Problem: Rsync makes a new copy of files with each backup. Not incremental

Hello and thanks for the reply. I don't currently have any symlinks but could in the future. I'll try just -av and see if that helps. No error messages at all- rsync just adds copies of all files with each backup. For testing purposes, I deleted the rclone job from the old GD account and...

Problem: Rsync makes a new copy of files with each backup. Not incremental

Hi All, I'm using rsync to back up local files to Google Drive. The first backup is successful but the second backup adds duplicate files with each backup. Its just doing a whole full new backup- not incremental. Below is rsync as I'm using it: rsync -hvaPHL /home/hudson/Desktop...

Simple guy, simple backup needs. Hopefully simple backup problem to fix

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm slowly but surely working my way through this. Here's what I have: 1. rclone successfully mounts my Google Drive and I can now navigate that remote drive from my local machine. 2. I'm going to use rsync to do an initial backup of certain directories and...

Simple guy, simple backup needs. Hopefully simple backup problem to fix

Hi Guys, Yeah, I live in California earthquake country. I want at least one of my backups to be remote. I finally got rclone to mount my Google Drive account. I have lots of space for a data dump. I'll use cron to set up an rsync job to back up my files. Sounds to me like it should work...

Simple guy, simple backup needs. Hopefully simple backup problem to fix

Hi Rob, Thanks for the reply! I just watched a great tutorial yesterday on rsync and would love to put what I've learned to use. I'm certainly not married to Google and would be fine with S3. Now I just need to learn how to do it. I could set up a cron job for rsync I guess and use fuse to...

Simple guy, simple backup needs. Hopefully simple backup problem to fix

Hi All, I'm running one Debian Testing machine at home. Its just me, my wife and my son here- not an enterprise-level situation. I want to find a back up solution that: 1) Backs up to the Cloud like Google Drive 3) Can back up my entire /home directory instead of just my user directory 4)...
