Need help getting Conky to correctly display my Vcore [SOLVED]

*****EDIT: Solved by omitting the -u switch on the sendors command, then just used grep and cut to get the value I needed like that. Worked like a charm! Before: ${execi 2 sensors -u | grep -w 'in1_input' | cut -c 14-32} vDC After: ${execi 2 sensors | grep -w 'Vcore' | cut -c 28-32} vDC...

    Distro selection

I voted Xubuntu; I am running it on one of my older machines. It's been reliable for me and runs smoothly. Not so much a Windows look alike, but a great little distro to my experience. Also, I like to mention Helium from Bunsen Labs. Anyway, I'm sure the OP has already decided but I just wanted...

Linus Torvalds was approached by NSA for backdoor in Linux - Nils Torvalds (father of Linus)

One of my friends asked me why I switched to Linux. My response to that question is I was tired of not owning my computer.

Customizing XFCE4-terminal - Command Prompt Color Issue

Ding Ding!! Winner winner! Thanks again, Rob. It totally escaped me that I would have to edit the /root/.bashrc; I was in my normal account so I was editing that one.. Didn't dawn on me that I would need to change the /root one as well since I guess this is kind of a "per user" thing rather...

Fresh Install Debian 10 Buster XFCE Clock Vanishes and Cairo Clock SOLVED

I had this issue too. What I ended up doing was, setting the time like I wanted it, but didn't close out the "Properties" window and just logged out. When you log back in, it is there and set up in the configuration you wanted. Kind of a pain to have to do that but it works.

Customizing XFCE4-terminal - Command Prompt Color Issue

Ok.. So I decided to customize the xfce terminal on one of my machines (Xubuntu). I have been setting up text colors in .bashrc, but I am having a bit of a hard time setting it up so that when I do sudo su or log in as root, to set the text color to what I want... I actually started with the...

    Perform Conditional Mount At Boot

Thanks for the reply, Rob. I got it (the first question) figured out; it was much simpler than I originally thought. Turns out I was over-thinking this, which I tend to do sometimes. All I had to do was on computer A, Linux booted.. I just had to declare /ARCHIVES as a samba share and set up...

    Perform Conditional Mount At Boot

Ok bear with me, this is kind of a weird situation.. I have two machines. Machine A is running MX Linux 19 and Win10, and Machine B is on MX Linux 19 and operates as an FTP server. Ok, here goes... Machine B runs an FTP server.. it mounts a drive in machine A over the network for the ftp...

    How many times?

Same here.. My laptop is actually a Surface Pro 5th generation.. 4 gigs of ram, 128Gb SSD, and a little 4-core Intel processor.. Was barely enough for it's native OS, but when I put MX Linux on it, it came alive... I use it way more than my desktop machines (they run Mint)...

    How many times?

Generally this is my mindset as well. Most of the skills I have picked up over the years have been from a somewhat spark of spontaneous interest, or out of necessity (work).. As for Linux, I have been taking it slow. So many different things to learn on so many levels. I've only been using it a...

    How many times?

Yeah the laptop is now the hopping machine for me as well.. However, I think the urge has subsided for a while once I got MX set up on it. I'm going to stay with this one for a while.. at least until tomorrow or so... lol

Yeah I keep a drive with it installed for those "just in case" situations I may not have anticipated. I've just been so spoiled since the change over to this side.

    How many times?

I got MX installed on my Surface Pro. I had to make a few adjustments for the high dpi screen but I think that will be what I use on that device from now on. My desktop machines are still on Mint 19.2 and I probably won't change that for a while, at least not until I have a little more time...

    How many times?

Great answer.. I have toyed around with MX Linux on my desktop computer and I am intrigued by it. May take a closer look. I haven't tried Anti-X yet. I also looked at PopOS for my surface, but it feels too much like Android (not that there's anything wrong with it). Xubuntu seems to work really...

    How many times?

How many times did you hop from distro to distro in order to find out what was the best for you. I can't seem to resist the urge of finding one that's just a little better for me than what I'm using (Mint 19.2 - Cinnamon).. The more I learn the more I want to bounce around. I've been sticking...
