    Linux Mint 21 released

Hi, two questions please: 1. Is it 'worth' going from Mint 20 to Mint 21? 2. CAN I go directly from Mint 20 to Mint 21? (via download or separate Drive?) Thank you!

Access to an HDD on Linux Mint 20.0--SOLVED

Thanks for all that info; I am sure that I will make good use of it in the future! I think that I used 'Disks' to partition and, I guess, that explains why it never got formatted. Yes, I am also relieved; this frees up my SSD to be used as how it was intended to be used.

Access to an HDD on Linux Mint 20.0--SOLVED

Ah! Thank you! That DOES make sense to me. Yet when I partitioned the HDD it remained NON-formatted; seems kinda inconsistent, no?

Access to an HDD on Linux Mint 20.0--SOLVED

NP I just don't understand how the SSD WAS formatted and accepted Mint 20.0 right away but yet the HDD was NOT formatted---makes no sense to me!

Access to an HDD on Linux Mint 20.0--SOLVED

First, thanks to ALL who helped and provided guidance to me in solving my conundrum. The good news is that I finally did get access to the HDD! The 'final hurdle' was that the HDD was not FORMATTED! Why? I have NO IDEA. But once, out of exasperation, I hit 'format' all the pieces fell into...

Access to an HDD on Linux Mint 20.0--SOLVED

It is mounted at:/media/mak/storage (/dev/sdb1) I went into settings (the 2 gear symbol) and the "default" box was checked. I unchecked it and saw that "mount at system startup" was then a checked box. If I want access to the HDD for my personal files etc. is THAT the way I want to go? I just...

Access to an HDD on Linux Mint 20.0--SOLVED

I 'found' both the SSD and the missing HDD when I accessed 'Disks'; so THAT's good. Apparently I had not finished the operation of partitioning the HDD; so I DID that and it now DOES appear under 'Devices'--PHEW! But it also shows it as 'unmounted'. What I want to do is "mount/activate" it so...

Access to an HDD on Linux Mint 20.0--SOLVED

I am afraid that you are LEAGUES ahead of me. How do I become the owner? Or, if it is easier (for someone like ME) how would I change the mount position?

Access to an HDD on Linux Mint 20.0--SOLVED

BTW, under 'permissions' it says that I am not the 'owner' (?!) and that I cannot change the permissions to write; huh?

Access to an HDD on Linux Mint 20.0--SOLVED

I watched the youtube video and I followed it exactly and it worked exactly as was shown; so, thank you! But, I am not able to either 'copy & paste' or 'move' any docs from the SSD to the newly accessible HDD. Any ideas as to why not? What do I need to do now? Again, thank you in advance. (Sorry...

Access to an HDD on Linux Mint 20.0--SOLVED

Thank you! I will try that and hope for the best. At least I didn't have any files/data on the HDD yet! And Mint is running well on the SSD! I appreciate your help.

Access to an HDD on Linux Mint 20.0--SOLVED

I went into GParted and the SSD looks like it was formatted and it's working fine. The HDD is 'invisible' showing the entire 951GB drive in a single block of 'gray' without any partitions of any kind. I can only even see it via GParted. I am, at best, an intermediate Linux user. What I am...

Access to an HDD on Linux Mint 20.0--SOLVED

Thanks for the quick reply. 1. I didn't know I had to partition the HDD; I didn't do anything to the SSD so I thought that the HDD also came 'set up'. 2. How do I make the HDD my 'home partition'?

Access to an HDD on Linux Mint 20.0--SOLVED

I have a new HP ProDesk G1 PC with a 256Gb SSD and a 1Tb HDD. Mint is on the SSD where it belongs, but I cannot seem to get any 'pics' or 'docs' to reside on the HDD; they are also sitting on my SSD D and I don't want that. I am sure there has to be some command I didn't run or box I didn't...
