    Reinstalling linux? Sure but I don't think that would solve it. I tried to resize it with the bootable version of GParted and the same thing happened.

    The number it's supposed to put there is the amount of free space on the drive. but it only went up the 170 megabytes for some reason. I think there might be something wrong with the drive. Guess I'll try another forum.

    I just tried to resize it with Windows Disk Management. for some reason it said that it can only shrink it by 170 megabytes, even though there is over 240 gigabytes of free space. I did that, now there is 170 mb of unallocated space and it says that it can't shrink it by any amount. Tried...

    Yeah the reason I wanted to resize the drive was to convert it to ext4 and copy the files over. Should I switch to Windows and try to resize and format it there?

    The drive I am trying to resize is a secondary storage drive, not my system's drive. It is formatted to NTFS, and it seems to work fine. I can open and copy all the files in it, it just doesn't want to resize it.

    I accidentally logged out while Gparted was resizing a partition and now every time I try the same thing it freezes.
