    Trackpad driver issue?

Good day! I am having trackpad issues. I can move the arrow around, but I have no scroll or click options. I am on a dell XPS plus that is only a few months old. I can often fix it by restarting cinnamon with the alt/F2 r command. This morning it was persistent and I couldn't correct with...

Looking For A New Laptop! Recommendations?

I made the swap over to Linux a couple of years ago, now. I bought a $500 used Dell laptop and set it up with Mint. I was on a Chromebook and I put Mint on that after setting up the Dell, but I have no sound other than bluetooth. It also locks up if you open too many tabs, so it has been a bit...

    Keyboard Chaos

Hey folks, I was just down in Mexico and while I was there my computer went haywire. I had no keyboard control. Something locked up so I was forced to hard restart it, when it got to the login screen I couldn't enter my password and it was continuously logging in as guest. At one point 20 guest...

    Kernel Update?

I just installed mint on a chromebook. no sound. Is a kernel update a possible solution? It is using 5.4.0-131. I found a thread talking about a kernel update as a possible solution, but it did not confirm that it worked.

Finally completing transitioning to Linux 100%

I have been working on transitioning to Linux for a year and a half. I got sidetracked and it took longer than expected to get set up with mint as my daily driver. Well, now it's been 6+ months since I've needed to open the Chromebook for anything, so yesterday I wiped ChromeOS and installed...

Can you help me install ungoogled chromium on Mint?

I tried to install through the software manager and it needs a later flatpack version. I've tried everything I can find even downloading an app image, but it won't execute. Any advice is appreciated.

Total Newby. My Experience Switching To Linux

This is gonna be a bit long, but I'm just posting this in case it helps give others direction or understanding. 10 months ago I signed up to this forum to get some insight as to what type of computer to buy to get Linux installed on, and advice on which distro to choose. I ended up settling on...

setting up an online anonymous presence.

Hi folks. I'm revisiting after some time away. I set up a Dell Inspiron 7472 14-inch laptop with Linux Mint last may. Intel Core i5-8250u CPU, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD etc. I built a new house this summer so things got sidetracked on the set up side. I am moving over from a chromebook and...

    Progress Update And Battery Confusion

Hey folks, Sooo, I've been muckin about getting familiar with things. I installed Librewolf and all the apps I need to replace everything I use on both my Chromebook and PC's. Really liking it, but I'm not using it full time yet due to battery life. When I first got the Dell (7472) with...

    What to expect for privacy

I just set up a Dell 7472 with Mint. I'm impressed, it's speedy. I think I am going to get WAY more out of this than any OS ever before, so it is not ALL about privacy anymore. I'm a little daunted by what it takes to install Librewolf, but I am literally into day 3 of my linux experience. I...

Where to start. Total noob. I have a goal, but need machine advice.

I have been reading and watching tutorials. I don't expect anyone to do the work for me. My goal is mostly just to get out of the surveillance game. I currently have a chromebook and the only real complaints I have are #1. Google. #2 Poor email clients, and I can't do basic pic/vid editing for...
