Cannot delete file with permissions listed as question marks

I believe this is only related to Windows. Maybe the file system protects Linux users to delete this file I am not sure but in Linux as you wrote the OS would laugh about it. When I get a suitable answer from the windows forum I will come back and report about it. But I would appreciate it, if...

Cannot delete file with permissions listed as question marks

That's right, I had posted a problem related to Windows in combination with Linux in another thread. You can't, because if you want to open the file explorer this problem happens. In command line you can access the DATA1 partition properly. So maybe there is a problem with the file explorer and...

Cannot delete file with permissions listed as question marks

I have issued $sudo apt-get install ntfs-3g and I am now able to access my DATA2 drive, but still cannot access my DATA1 drive. To be honest working in parallel with Linux and Windows, unfortunately is still in 2024 totally unstable.

Cannot delete file with permissions listed as question marks

The problem is that despite I enable hidden files in windows 11, the file gets not shown. It gets only shown in Ubuntu. I will check out your links and hope this will fix it. THX for now. Edit: Based on the thread you mentioned I need to restart the samba server, but issuing $sudo systemctl...

Cannot delete file with permissions listed as question marks

Hello, I have a bootTel.dat file which permissions are shown as a question mark. When I try to delete this file via $sudo rm -f bootTel.dat, I get the error: rm: cannot remove 'bootTel.dat': Input/output error. Why does this happen and how can I achieve the deletion of this file? My OS is Ubuntu...

chmod not working on ntfs file system

You're right the full access is a little bit annoying only and it's not something I should worry about, because you have full access via windows one way or another. So I leave it as it is. THX for the help!

chmod not working on ntfs file system

Yes I know. The drive gets mounted properly, but the full access still remains (i.e. full green color). This is something I don't want, because I want to restrict my partition to me only and not to everyone. Ok, I am working on my own laptop alone, but I also don't want to let full access to the...

chmod not working on ntfs file system

Yes it makes sense that the directory has to exist before, but if I try to execute the command on command line without having mounted the drive before I get this error message: After that if I mount the drive via the graphical file explorer by Ubuntu, and execute the same command again in the...

chmod not working on ntfs file system

No the directory is in general at /media/miketlap/DATA2 and this exists. But I tried via /mnt if this is the right way. In past I had no issues with /media/miketlap/DATA2 as mount point. Now if I try the same I get an error message if the drive is unmounted (which is logical), but when I mount...

chmod not working on ntfs file system

Hello, I am accessing an ntfs partition which I had setup via ntfs-3g to get access from Ubuntu 22.04.LTS. Unfortunately, I am not able to change the file system rights via chmod 755 DATA2 as shown in the screenshot below. Is there any reason why this is happening? How can I fix this issue?

I have tried many things but my bluetooth JBL TUNE125WS-LE headsets are still not shown in the settings. Do not any other people face the same problem?

No BT headset shown in Pulseaudio

The headset gets discovered properly and I can connect it, too. The problem is that I cannot see it in Pulseaudio to configure the output.

No BT headset shown in Pulseaudio

Hi folkes! I am trying to connect and play audio via my JBL Bluetooth headsets, but despite I can connect to my headphones using the BT setting, I cannot see my headset in Pulseaudio UI. I have tried this solution to remove the pulse folders in the home directory as mentioned in the solution...

How to resize an Ubuntu partition online without using gparted

Finally, I found a solution which is a little bit cumbersome, but that did the job. More precisely, I used an Ubuntu 22.04.LTS USB stick and on the installation menu I chose Something else and shrinked the partition. Nevertheless, I would like to know the proper way and hope someone can share...
