After the usual "update" the sound output suddenly crackles (every second)

It just remains mysterious... but since my last entry here, the sound is "ok" - and that although "Pulse Audio" is still the standard: Maybe something was "repaired" during the last auto update?! I don't know... but hopefully it stays that way for now...

After the usual "update" the sound output suddenly crackles (every second)

So I'm slowly going crazy with this sound topic... Today, after switching on the PC and booting Ubuntu for the first time... the sound was perfect. Let's see how long he stays that way...

After the usual "update" the sound output suddenly crackles (every second)

Next update: No matter what I've done so far, after a "restart" the sound was always bad, with crackling and cracking. Today I tried the following (and only) for the first time: And the sound was "nice" again. However, I closed the terminal afterwards. To take the screenshot, I opened the...

After the usual "update" the sound output suddenly crackles (every second)

After the restart... repeating the procedure from my post #16... the same results. But instead of rebooting again... I did try: ... the sound came back... and even, it is again "only" pulseaudio... ... the sound is good yet... without "crackling" e.g. o_O

After the usual "update" the sound output suddenly crackles (every second)

So... the day after... Again only Pulseaudio, no Pipewire. Same procedure as yesterday... ... but it failed. Trying to enable pulseaudio again: Fail. Trying to "kill" pulseaudio: Fail. Yes, its german, but it just says: failure, error... Funny side-effect: I can listen to...

After the usual "update" the sound output suddenly crackles (every second)

To come back to my problem... After trying different things for a while now, I can summarize the following "facts": I didn't have any sound problems until March, then I was on a business trip for 3 weeks. After the (cumulative) Ubuntu updates that were then carried out, the sound "jerked" or...

After the usual "update" the sound output suddenly crackles (every second)

I did change nothing, after I have done the instructions of the pipewire-manual. Hm... maybe I should remove pulseaudio from my system?

After the usual "update" the sound output suddenly crackles (every second)

Hello, I have to make a small restriction ;) I followed this guide step by step and disabled "pulseaudio" and installed "pipewire" instead: https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-install-pipewire-on-ubuntu-linux Everything worked, great sound.... ...until the restart (the next day, than today)...

After the usual "update" the sound output suddenly crackles (every second)

Thank you all for your replies. Especially @KGIII - your provided links did it... First I did try the pulseaudio-modifications, "tsched=0" e.g., because they seem the most easy way. But this did not had any effect. Then I did exchange "pulseaudio" with "pipewire"... and until yet... all sounds...

After the usual "update" the sound output suddenly crackles (every second)

Hi, I was on a "business trip" for a few weeks and when I started Ubuntu for the first time on Monday, that is yesterday, there was an update. Of course I don't know what's new in the last 3-4 weeks or how many "regular" updates took place... I only got the "concentrated" update due to the 3-4...

After the usual "update" the sound output suddenly crackles (every second)

Hello, my Ubuntu "20.04.4 LTS" ran fine until the last update - but now the sound crackles, no matter which application, so it's a general problem. Since I have a dual boot system and everything sounds clean in Windows, there is no speaker or hardware problem. However, I'm a bit overwhelmed...

    Network-Manager Problems (VPN)

Hello everybody, since I set up - or wanted to set up - an "openVPN" connection a few days ago, I've recognized some problems with the network manager. I have set up a TCP and a UDP openVPN connection - according to the instructions of my VPN provider - and manually, if I click on the icon in...

New PC: 20.04 LTS does not load from Live-USB-stick - many error messages

Hi, until yet, I am happy... but... how can I be sure, that I got the best gaphic that is available (for my system)? When I check out my installed applications, I can find "NVIDIA XSERVER"... and after I finally got my new monitor, it was detected by Ubuntu and I could increase the refresh rate...

New PC: 20.04 LTS does not load from Live-USB-stick - many error messages

Hello, so, well... I just did re-install my Ubuntu system... to check out some other stuff. First... it was enough to include "nomodeset" , no need to deactivate the LAN-Chip. Then, the error-message about the 3 bad files did appear during the pre-installation procedure: After the...

New PC: 20.04 LTS does not load from Live-USB-stick - many error messages

Okay, thx, I will check it ASAP. Note: I got all devices for my new PC... except the monitor... so everytime I have to check something, I have to take "this" monitor, carry it to my new pc, plug in... do the tests... then plug off... carry it back to "this" pc... plug in... continue working...

New PC: 20.04 LTS does not load from Live-USB-stick - many error messages

But I have already done all suggested tests... and the "sha256sum" give me as result the same checksum as mentioned (=> #28 at the bottom of my reply). o_O

New PC: 20.04 LTS does not load from Live-USB-stick - many error messages

Yes, after my first "real boot" from the sdd-ubuntu-installation, the system did download some updates. So the current status is "no new updates available".

New PC: 20.04 LTS does not load from Live-USB-stick - many error messages

Well, at #13 I already did post the result of the suggested ISO-check-procedure. But I did your alternative too: jpl@Tuxedo:~/Downloads$ sha256sum ubuntu-20.04-desktop-amd64.iso e5b72e9cfe20988991c9cd87bde43c0b691e3b67b01f76d23f8150615883ce11 ubuntu-20.04-desktop-amd64.iso The ISO seems...

Yes, at #13 I did write the result of the hashsum-procedure. ... and here come the synaptic-results (still german, but I can't see any error-messages): jpl@AmigaMCC:~$ apt-cache policy synaptic synaptic: Installiert: 0.84.6ubuntu5 Installationskandidat: 0.84.6ubuntu5 Versionstabelle...
