Looking at the error message you don't have a BIOS boot partition for you GPT set up.
If I'm not mistaken that partition has to have the boot flag as well. The recommended size for that partition is 500 MB to 1 Gig.

Most adapters work out of the box with Linux but some you have to install a driver for them in order for them to work. Also if you do install a driver for the adapter you might have to blacklist the onboard wifi card in order for the adapter to work.

Once the DE or browser locks up I have to restart.
Upon restarting it loses it's connection to the monitor. Rebooting a few more times the monitor than shows the display.
