    Thanks for all the fish! nice to talk to another hitch-hiker! I will slowly (gotta live up to my name) go through all the suggestions on this page. If nothing else, I'll learn what does not work. Wish me luck! Incidentally, right now, I'm managing with F12.

    I tried both your suggestions. Did'nt work. Enclosing result of sudo update-grub. I re-installed Mint, this time with all drives connected. Grub is still booting me directly into Mint, without giving any option.

    I have just started on Linux. Been playing around with the Mint Live. Liked what I saw. Took a plunge and bought a Hard Disk. Wanted to keep Mint and Win(7) on separate disks. Boot into whichever OS I wanted. Found a suggestion at the Mint forum against a post by a newbie who some 3 years back...
