    useless

:) G'day @ironsniper1 and welcome to linux.org :) We're not giving you the brushoff and we hope you'll come back here with an answer we can add to our Wiki. What Nelson and Darren have said above is good advice. Rockedge is being advocated as the Puppy place to go to, in particular since...

I'm drunk a quarter of the time

You already have a wonderful quote from a scientist I admired immensely from my childhood - in your signature. Philosophy and Psychology are intricately connected. Perhaps you are more of a psychologist than you give yourself credit for? Chris

After successfully installing 3 OS partitions on a multi-boot laptop with the 4th OS destroyed the GRUB multi-boot menu

Morning all, you put a little too much faith in me. So far all I seem to be doing is to be eliminating possibilities. Although when you eliminate enough of the possibilities of what is going wrong, you can be left with the probability of what will work right (paraphrasing a bit there, lol). I...

I'm drunk a quarter of the time

Just remember that you opened the door to this subject :) You could either have nil replies, or you can expect to get some friendly advice. This forum comprises a community where people can come to "know each other" albeit in a cyber fashion, and a lot of us come to care about each other's...

    Cloud vs Local

Old Tom (& welcome, Tolkien fan :)) just a heads up, if you are new and have less than 20 posts or so under your belt, and insert a link, it will be held up as a potential spammer and come across my desk for approval. Given I am in Australia, you may be waiting hours. Cheers Chris Turner...

After successfully installing 3 OS partitions on a multi-boot laptop with the 4th OS destroyed the GRUB multi-boot menu

No offence taken, but it won't work, and may bork Len's Windows. Those first 4 partitions are a standard I have seen with many manufacturers, who make four partitions for Windows (usually on a BIOS/MBR rig, to make it difficult to install another OS, in this case Linux. Len's rig, though is...

After successfully installing 3 OS partitions on a multi-boot laptop with the 4th OS destroyed the GRUB multi-boot menu

Regrets on the delays Len, getting late again. Serious work on your tomorrow, I expect, but I believe we are headed up the garden path - my fault for not focusing in the area needing the most attention. And that is the USB stick - UEFI/CSM area. I will explain as we go along. Can you provide...

After successfully installing 3 OS partitions on a multi-boot laptop with the 4th OS destroyed the GRUB multi-boot menu

Morning all :) Len do you have any other USB sticks or just the one/s in use? I have to take my wife to the dentist but will be back in about 2 hours I hope. Wiz

    HDMI Connection

G'day @Garth from another Aussie and welcome to linux.org :) I am looking to move this to Audio/Video where you may get specialised assistance on your HDMI, rather than trailing off down Getting Started with Brian's dog Belle nipping at your heels. Which version of Ubuntu, I likely have it...

    Cloud vs Local

I am with Brian @Condobloke on this one, not just because Aussies stick together. What an absorbing rant, @dos2unix as I might expect, I suppose. I've allowed the off-topic by Nelson since Wile E. opened the door to it, but anything further on Ian's death, mysterious or otherwise, should be...

Upgraded from 18.04 to 20.04 and am seeing a file system failure

G'day @Tanz0rz and welcome to linux.org :) 1. Does that mean it is working now, or is the problem repeating itself to the exclusion of being able to use your Ubuntu? 2. Can you go to Terminal and type and enter the following and report back the figure at the bottom left of the output? My...

After successfully installing 3 OS partitions on a multi-boot laptop with the 4th OS destroyed the GRUB multi-boot menu

Len, getting late again, unless you've napped, this for now or tomorrow. Are you booting under CSM mode? Should be booting under UEFI Wiz EDIT - sorry, missed part of your last Post, so yes, when fresh... you need to be under UEFI in the setup utility.
