    Don't use Mobile Phones

Until some info stealer gets your cookie sessions without you noticing... (I thought I would need to make this meme, but I found it ready made :D)

    Don't use Mobile Phones

Just out of interest: how many of you are concerned with removing your data from data brokers and paying for such service, while other databases that must keep your data get hacked here and there and the data pouring to the dark web, where these services cannot do anything? Sooner or later we...

    Don't use Mobile Phones

I haven't read the entire thread of this topic, but how do you want to verify your identity on logins without a phone? Whether you receive an sms, or the some authentication app, you need an independent mobile device for security.

    Linux operating system

Tried that already, no difference. Either the hardware cannot cope with the newer and higher demands on data processing on Youtube, or some extra tweak is needed in the MX distro. Reducing resolution results in blurry picture and still not quite right.

    Linux operating system

You lost the track, since your first suggestions after reading my older and longer comment about revamping the old Asus laptop. It is of the F5RL series. I had it in a wardrobe with a broken hinge for years. Nobody wanted to buy it even for spare parts. Last year I fixed it and tried Linux. The...

    Linux operating system

This is the old Asus from maybe 2007 production, not the Dell. Dell is 2022 production. How do I upgrade ready installed MX Linux from a recent download (should be up to date) to a higher kernel?

    Linux operating system

There is no Windows, right now there is MX Linux. Vista is gone :D

    Linux operating system

Finally got to try this the other day recently. There is no such setting in the old BIOS. I will probably put the 1TB ssd with Wilma back, and use as storage the 1TB HDD that is in my other machine right now with Win10, after I finally switch my third and last machine to Linux. I have a 4TB ssd...

That sounds interesting. Will ask the bot how to do it :D

    Linux operating system

I did that, it is too blurry for me. I have Wilma on an ssd sata and I remember youtube worked well on that one, even without significantly reducing the quality of the video. Just that was 1TB sata drive, which I consider unreasonable for this machine, so planning a smaller one for that purpose...

    Linux operating system

I started maybe a very different way from most others: I bought a Win11 compatible machine second hand, foreseeing the possibilities for the near future, replaced the pitiful 256GB nvme with 1TB nvme and after a brief asking around I tried LMDE. LMDE is still my main consideration for my more...

Editing a file with a single tap on the file name? LMDE distro

Hello, how do I make the filename to open for editing filename after a single tap on the filename in LMDE, instead of right click and Rename? I tried consulting the chat bot but to no avail. My system doesn't seem to have the 'behaviour' tab under Preferences in the Nemo manager. The command...

    how to start in linux

stolen (the pic, not the dog) :) I wish I could have one, but it wouldn't be fair to the innocent soul. Maybe after I retire.

    how to start in linux

Sorry for the harsh comparison (come with a better one if you want), but my first thought was that Linux is like cancer. It isn't one thing. It is hundreds of things. They have common traits, but there are differences that need different approaches, different commands, vary in response, etc. I...

    Questions about Debian

I see, so still the same old song. Bootkitty came around in the news, but most computers should have the BIOS patched up I believe.

    Questions about Debian

Sorry, coming late to the party. What is it with LMDE and privacy concerns?

Which virtual machine for LMDE to install Windows?

Great. I also use Canvas Workspace, for designing templates or other creative stuff. They don't look like having a Linux version. I guess it isn't a CPU demanding software, but in any case, for future, I prefer to have the faster speed so I don't need to re-do the whole thing if the need came.

Which virtual machine for LMDE to install Windows?

Even apps? I know they work via browser, but that isn't the whole functionality, at least Teams. If Linux has an app for Teams then great, I haven't explored that detail yet. I expected it to be Windows specific. Or Mac at most.

Which virtual machine for LMDE to install Windows?

Not sure yet, I want my options open. Instead of finding out some other VM will be a bit slower to my like and doing it again, I went with the big thing :). How are Zoom or Teams facetime working on Vbox?

Which virtual machine for LMDE to install Windows?
