Running slow on Macbook Pro

I am running Linux Mint 21.2 on early 2011 Mac Book Pro, 2gig processor,16 gigs of ram and 1 terabyte hd, It runs slow on boot up and across board, trying to boot from usb stick takes forever, normal boot is slow, any help will be appreciated.

I was running 20.3 and one of my mirrors was in the UK, I have switched both mirrors to the US , which is where I am at and it all works well, again thanks for the help and I will try to get better at explaining my problems..........at least with linux

I changed repositories and updated fine, for whatever reason it did not like the one I was using. Thanks for your response.

I found problem with update, I had to change to a different repository, thank for your help

All of a sudden each time I try to update Mint it returns a fail on all files. Is this a repository problem or mine?

Installed MInt on usb using etcher, when I boot to mint I have no curser control with mouse or keys, I am running High Sierra on an mid 2011 imac machine will not run later versions of OSX

Clear did not work, followed your instructions in order ran to another problem which I took a screenshot of, also I found my thumb drive with the snapshots on it only problem is the last one was in August, I also have one I just took during all these problems, do you want me to attach the files?

Did not fix problem typing reset enter and on my terminal screen I see no menu option

I started XTerm and it works as expected so I have a working terminal but still would like to find problem with gnome-terminal

I do not have a menu button in my terminal window tried to go to view but cannot find it.

It seems that I can't reset or anything in gnome-terminal, I found Xterm on my system and opened it and it works as you would expect. I would still like to fine a reason for the problem with gnome-terminal. I did remove and reinstall terminal to no avail.

I did do update yesterday, none pending now. I will have to look at timeshift , I did have it running but have not checked lately timeshift "not available" oops think the thumbdrive in another pc will have to take a look, I really thank you, Condobloke and Wizardformoz for you help , I will have...
