What's the best IDE for linux users?

Not an experienced programmer. Geany does the job for me. All of lecturers and students in my university use VsCode and Windows (Few of them use Macs) and I am the only one using Geany. But most of the time, it is nano and vim.

Installing Element Desktop on Parabola GNU/Linux

Thanks wiz, I guess I will just use Element on my web browser for now. I made up my mind. :)Have to respect Parabola Devs' efforts. The github link you posted looks promising since it directly edit the source code. But as mentioned, I will just use Element as a webapp for now. PS: can't...

Installing Element Desktop on Parabola GNU/Linux

I migrated from Arch to Parabola and everything works fine except the process removed everything that use Electron by "your-freedom" package. The reason I want to install Electron again is Element-Desktop package depends on it and the flatpak version does not work for me. I tried to install...

Linux on external SSD or HHD

SSD's are always faster than HDD's. There is a reason why flash drives are slower than SSDs. You can install GNU/Linux on external SSD without any issue and you won't notice any performance issues either. After the installation, you just have to select the drive from boot menu.

    Terminal not responding

You may report this to Linux Mint developers. I saw this same problem on various forums without any solution. It could be a bug. First, you may want to try Condobloke's solution.

Notepad plus plus installed using winehq stable Fedora 36 can't display non ASCII characters.

So, that means Notepadqq works fine? that's strange. Can you paste the output of this code? cat /etc/locale.conf

    Terminal not responding

http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=198&t=113073#p631249 This thread goes back to 2012, I really don't think this would make a difference, but it's worth to give a shot. Alternatively, run, reset -c Since, the terminal does not show any response, I don't think this would work either...

    Terminal not responding

We may want more information regarding your problem. What version of Linux mint are you running? What desktop Environment? If you can upload a screenshot what exactly happens when you try to execute a command, that would be helpful.

Notepad plus plus installed using winehq stable Fedora 36 can't display non ASCII characters.

Hey Rupesh, Can you provide the output of following command? dnf search fonts-indic And what is so important about Notepad++? You can get the same experience with Notepadqq and I'm pretty sure it's available on Fedora's repositories.

    Rolling vs Stable

Nitrux can't be recommended to a noob, specially because it uses OpenRC as the init system and not SystemD. Considering the majority of Desktop GNU/Linux users use SystemD which has documentation far better than what OpenRC has, a beginner might face a hard time if one wants to try out a...

So, the 1.2 billion dollar 'metaverse' has pretty much no users...

I just wish they just go straight down to hell. Only thing I give a damn is people who are losing their jobs when this company falls down. Facebook owner Meta to sack 11,000 workers after revenue collapse And yay! Google lost another lawsuit. Google to pay $391.5 million in location tracking...

Performance is okay considering they are free, but not the best experience. Perfect for someone who just want to type a letter, write a simple code on the way. They even provide a way to save your session which is appreciated. However, I couldn't find out root password of their systems, so I...

[SOLVED] FSF endorsed distro where i can easily install gnucash?

From my personal experience, Trisquel is the only distro that worked out of the box. I have used Parabola, Hyperbola, Pure OS. If Trisquel just works, I'd say just stick with it for a while. If you want to install softwares the GUI way, install Pure OS from Purism on your second machine because...

This is my experience exactly. I tried so much to get my ex to use beginner distro but it's like garlic to vampires. Same with my tech savvy and non tech savvy friends. Instead, now I just debloat their Windows system and install open source programs replacing proprietary ones.
