Books are masters who instruct us without rods or ferules, without words or anger, without bread or money. If you approach them, they are not asleep; if you seek them, they do not hide; if you blunder, they do not scold; if you are ignorant, they do not laugh at you. – Richard de Bury.(1287 – 1345)

The books that help you most, are those which make you think the most. —The hardest way of learning is that of easy reading; but a great book that comes from a great thinker is a ship of thought, deep freighted with truth and beauty. – Theodore Parker. (1810 – 1860)

What genre/s do you tend to read for enjoyment, pleasure, entertainment?
What is the title of the book/s that you find as outstanding in your mind?
What was the title of the book that you cherished as a child always keep coming back to to read?

I have an eclectic taste in books encompassing nearly all genres both Fictional and Non-fictional as I have been a avid reader of books since the first time I could read effortlessly and understood what I was reading. I read books printed in the 18th, 19th centuries of which I had a small collection of many moons ago now. Now I have to settle for reading them in PDF format.
I suppose the book I cherished in my childhood was Just-So-Stories by Rudyard Kipling.
I have no one favourite author or book title as there is an amazing amount of writers to choose from in the world of literature. All who stand out from their
contemporaries in their age.

My books kept me from the ring, the dog-pit, the tavern, and the saloon.
The associate of Pope and Addison,
the mind accustomed to the noble though silent discourse of Shakespeare and Milton,
will hardly seek or put up with low or evil company and slaves. – Thomas Hood. (1799 – 1845)

Except a living man there is nothing more wonderful than a book!
A message to us from the dead—from human souls we never saw, who lived, perhaps, thousands of miles away.
And yet these, in those little sheets of paper, speak to us, arouse us, terrify us, teach us, comfort us, open their hearts to us as brothers. – Charles Kingsley.(1819 – 1875)

It's endless if one takes the time to wander through the archives.
Already use that site. Just download The Mathematical Analysis of Logic by Geo. Boole and it is his mathematics that drives the construction of logic circuits used in constructing computer processors and the like.
And also the book Logic: or the morphology of Knowledge just for light reading to send me to the land of Nod.

I’m a voracious reader. Whenever I get some spare time, or I'm at a loose end - you can bet your arse I'll be reading something.

But my tastes are eclectic. I was brought up on the old classics, and have loved sci-fi, fantasy, crime and horror themed fiction since I was a child. I love a wide range of non-fiction too.

And being a programmer - I read a lot of technical manuals and STEM. (Science, Technology, Electronics and Maths).

And then there are comics, graphic novels and manga. My reading list goes on and on.

I've got a large collection of printed books. Never really counted them. Plus an e-library with thousands more.

Incidentally - one great resource for getting ebooks is humblebundle.com - who regularly sell large bundles of ebooks for next to nothing.

There have been a number of Linux and free software related ebook-bundles in the last couple of years. So if you're on the lookout for some programming, or Linux related ebooks - it's worth keeping an eye on that site!

Some of the other book bundles have opened my eyes to new fiction authors and some other very interesting books.

@JasKinasis
Do you when your in a medical waiting room find yourself reading women's magazines and the pamphlets on the waiting room table?
I know I do but then been reading women's magazines since I was kid.

No, if I have an appointment, I always bring my own reading material. I rarely have any interest in anything that can be found in a waiting room.

I read a lot, love reading, have since I was a kid. But youve got me beat, nik-ken-bah, your light reading and my light reading are 2 completely different things! :D ;)

Love mysteies, historiacal fiction, books on Catholicism, writings of the saints and early church fathers, occasionally humor and romance. no favorite authors or titles, I like way too many to pick a fave. Even as a a child I didn't have a favorite, except for the Bible. OOPS! I guess I'd better amend my list with the Bible as my favorite. (Chagrin)

At the time I'm reading this book:

It's about maths xd

It's about maths
That I gathered the world of mathematik part but for the rest of the title o_O. But it seems to be a good one Peer.

Yeah, it is :)

My best friend gifted it to me at my birthday, and now I have time to read it

The English title would be :"1089 or the wonder of numbers, a journey in to the world of mathematics"

now I have time to read it
I take it you like mathematics then?
As for me self I don't mind mathematics as I have to use it in the trades I use to work at. But for the pure mathematics I can sort of understand what they are trying to convey but doing it that white fella magic, ;):):)

Tongue-in-cheek, you guys make me fill like a kindergartner in a room full of masterminds! :eek:o_O:)
