Ok, maybe a stupid question... I recently purchased a Lenovo X1 Carbon and I just upgraded the SSD to a 1 TB. The SSD resides right beside the wireless card and when I was putting in the new SSD the antenna wires became disconnected from the card. The wi-fi works but I can tell the signal strength is less than it ought to be. I cannot for the life of me get these connectors to lock on to the card. Anyone have any experience with this or something similar? Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Basically they just snap on to the card from the ones that I have replaced.

If you are unable to get the antenna wires connected and stay in place then I would buy a usb wireless device and disable the internal wireless card.

Thanks! It looks like they just snap on, they are small and perhaps I am not lining them up correctly. I will open the laptop up and try again.

Ok, I thought that was what you meant! I looked up the schematics on this laptop and these connectors should "screw" on... of course I'd need to be a very tiny person with very tiny fingers to actually screw these things back on! I will give it a shot but I may end up going with the USB adapter. Does that override the built in wireless card or do I have to disable it?

True, I could disconnect it. I am going to try to reconnect what I have first. I was working quickly to get done and may have been a bit impatient! I will post my results once I finish!

Generally you can go in to the bios and disable the onboard wireless card / device or you can physically remove the onboard wireless card / device.

I opened the laptop and was able to reconnect the antenna when I removed the wireless card. Unfortunately, my internet has been out since I’ve done it (we apparently have to replace the modem with our ISP). As soon as the new modem is hooked up I’ll know if the antenna reconnection worked!

As an update, my fix was successful! In order to get the connections to stay you have to remove the card. Once I took it out I was able to screw on the microscopic screws!
