Hi all, I am a Linux novice. I hope to change that because I have gotten rid of all my Macs and windows devices. I am currently experimenting with window managers instead of DE's in arch on an older surface pro 3 and I am really enjoying the learning. I do have a lenovo think pad set up with Manjaro also but hope to build my own environment on the Lenovo once have sufficient knowledge. My goal is the learn all i can on the experimental device where i can make mistakes . i am trying to keep from installing a DE. Using the Arch Wiki i have been able to install and enable wifi, a window manager and enable bluetooth. i am currently struggling to get a keyboard paired. i have not figured out what package to install to display the authentication code to pair the keyboard. i did get the mouse paired. Really looking forward to having some communication with you people.

Ah yes ........ welcome @Techforay
I guess 'old' @wizardfromoz might have had me in mind when he made his comment about being able to be his and your father.
If you transpose the number on @VP9KS you'll get my age.
Funny thing, I don't really think about age too much ...... until it comes to remembering what I just read. That is getting harder each year.
But, I'll keep plugging along and see what sticks in this ole brain.
C programming on hold for a bit, while I peruse the subject of bash scripts. At the same time, my son tells me all about Python, so I better look into that soon.
Onward and upward is my motto!
Cheers from an Old Geezer, TC

It's a rare day when I'm the young'un. I was hatched 63 years ago today.

63 years for me on Christmas eve. I am really encouraged by all the responses. I have been using linux for a while and really enjoying it. I wish i could find an arch distro that work without issue for me. I put manjaro on my main machine but recently reverted back to Mint. I have had not issues with mint at all. It finds all me bluetooth devices and works well. Manjaro unfortunately did not but i like the pacman package manager better.

... and a bloody Happy Birthday to you David :)

Lot of nice people born in 1957, even if I do say so myself :p

Wouldn't even have thought of you Charlie, if you hadn't mentioned it :D

Stay safe, all, and I'll look forward to seeing you all again in 2021

1957 was a good year. I received an honorable discharge from the US Army on April 18 that year after being drafted for 2 years.

Thanks to everyone.

'Member back when we were younger and wanted to be the oldest member in our group?

Well, now I get to point and say, "Ha-ha! You're old!" ;)

Also...

Manjaro unfortunately did not but i like the pacman package manager better.

Manjaro is based on Arch. Take advantage of the Arch wiki. Otherwise, there are a number of Arch/derivatives users here.

Well, then, happy birthday!!

Thanks! It's so close to Christmas that I either don't really celebrate or I just keep on celebrating straight through until New Years Day.

So how is the weather up there? I'm from Eastport, but have not been up there much in the last 40+ years. Be safe, mate!
