  • My mom's been having various health issues over the years, and now needs to have a stent put in her heart. Once she's finished recuperating, her other health problems (minus her kidneys (she's on dialysis for that)) will begin to diminish. I just wish she explained it to me that way, rather than putting words in the doctor's mouth and making me worried to the point of tears.
While cleaning the floors and bathrooms at work is tedious and time-consuming, I don't hate the job itself, nor do I hate my coworkers and clientele. However, I'd rather work for myself if I was giving the option to do so. Because of that, I'm thinking of asking my coworkers if I can complete odd jobs for them. Hopefully that will allow me to finally quit the rat race.
This morning, I was informed that one of my coworkers has recently been stalked by a creepy patron. He left her a note on a napkin with his phone number, which she showed to the police when filing a report. While I'm sure they'll trace it and bust him, my other coworkers and I will have to be on alert in case he comes in again.
For those of you who remember when I tried dating that one coworker and it didn't work out, there's another coworker I've been gradually getting to know better, and I might have more of a chance with her. Be aware I have tried dating sites and I don't mind meeting other women outside of work in person.
After I completed my shift at work, I decided to change into my party clothes and hang out there for an hour and a half. I figured if I'm going to be there, I should look good doing so. While I was there, I was trying to complete a drawing for my coworker's son's birthday, but it didn't come out the way I wanted it to.
When I was at work today, I saw Chuck Norris starring in a total gym infomercial, which made me come up with this fact: Whenever Chuck Norris farts, he creates gas clouds in space
Because I've had to deal with the snow at home and at work, which eventually has become exhausting, I asked my boss for less hours and he was fine with that. Right before I left my 10 hour shift tonight (part of which was overtime again), the assistant manager told me if I work another 10 hour shift on Wednesday, I can have the rest of the week off. That is what consistent hard work has earned me.

    *Update*
While I still had to work overtime, I only worked a 6 hour shift. The wine-tasting event was cancelled because of the blizzard, and I completed all of the tasks they asked of me. The bad news was I was an hour and half late because my snowblower died on me again, so one of my neighbor's friends had to come over and helped me finish plowing my driveway.
When I was at work tonight, I encountered an older man who not only lost his wife 2 weeks ago, but he also lost his wedding ring when washing his hands. I happened to find it and gave it to the manager for him to reclaim. When he went up to her sometime later and asked if someone found it, she said I did and pointed to me, leading to him coming up to personally thank me.
I'm honestly starting to get fed up with how consistently lazy most of the younger waitresses are at work, especially when I've repeatedly came in the next morning and it looks like a bomb went off. When they're not waiting on tables, they just play on their phones. I'm starting to think the manager in charge of them may not put her foot down and make them take initiative.

Like most jobs and other things, social media is the modern individuals* way to retreat from not being perfect and ends up being a retreat that just brings more laziness and a lack of effort.

    * I say individual sarcastically as most people are slaves to other people's opinions and social media is just a stream of judgment.

While I have my fair share of flaws there as well (I inadvertently got into a small argument with my boss yesterday), the reason why I don't play on my phone is A) I'm always finding something to do, and B) I have a very basic flip phone that doesn't have social media on it, nor does it allow me download anything. Sure, I can still access the web on it, but it's not the same as me doing so on my laptop.

I was wrong about the manager. When I pulled her aside and politely talked about my issues with the waitresses, she did say she and the owner are working on giving them checklists, among other things. Hopefully them implementing this will make a difference in the long term.
Because my parents are elderly and in poor health, I've had to step up and help out more around the house in recent years. I just got out of orientation for a second job that will pay me to take care of them.

Sad to read about your parents' health conditions. They're lucky to have you supporting.

That, and my brother comes over and does what he can to help. While it's unfortunate that a number of their conditions are due to genetics or old age, some of them are the result of not living a lifestyle where they're genuinely happy, taking good care of themselves, or being physically active.
Because I've always ran the cinnamon edition of Mint (as that's what I started out on), I'm thinking of trying out the MATE, Xfce, and even the Debian editions. For anyone interested, I'll take notes and give a review of it. Just be aware that it will take a while because I work 5 days a week, and I have other things going on besides that.
Happy 28th birthday to me! :D

When I was at work this morning, two of my coworkers were showing me a video one of them made where it showed them, some of my other coworkers, and the clientele I know all wishing me a happy birthday. Because I often follow the golden rule, the saying "What goes around, comes around" really is true. :D
My dad's been binge-watching reruns of Knight Rider lately. Correct me if I'm wrong about this, but did the popularity of KITT boost the sales of firebirds at the time?
My mom slipped and suffered a minor fall this morning. While she's fine now, she bruises easily, and will have noticeable ones later on. Being that she's in her late 60s, and has numerous health problems (including spinal fusion), this isn't the first time she's been a fall victim.
Because it's Christmas, I was thinking back to the Elf Bowling game, so here's a review of it from LGR:
Even though the game was only released for Windows and Mac, you can play it through Lutris
