  • After watching DistroTube's video about desktop animations, https://invidious.kavin.rocks/watch?v=pqO_y_zSyjA, I'm thinking of installing those as well. Being to customize your computing experience exactly how you want is a perfect example of software freedom.

Update: Because I switched from XFCE to MATE, now I have them preinstalled. I tried playing around with them, but because they're confusing to configure, I'll see if there's a tutorial for them.
While my mom was making dinner by herself, she fell and her nose began bleeding all over, leading her to get fractured nose, lacerations across her nose and right temple, neck issues, and a slight bleeding in her brain. Because both of my parents have declining health and are fall risks, now i don't feel safe with them being by themselves anymore. I'm going to see about getting a live-in caregiver.

Update: Although my parents obviously need a caregiver, we decided the best option is to get one who comes in for a few hours each day, rather than having a live-in (as we don't necessarily have the space for one, and they're expensive). They're in the process of moving to an assisted living facility anyway, so once they're there, they'll be monitored by the staff.
Because my former coworker and friend also works as a hair stylist, I made her my official barber when she did a good job cutting my hair the first time. When she cut it this time, I also had her dye it a reddish brown to cover my patches of gray. Because I'm also known for my fashion sense and classy demeanor, now I look and feel like James Bond (I almost sound like him too because of my Transatlantic Accent). :D
After going back and forth with Bestbuy for a while, I finally got my Brother MFC-L3770CDW Laserjet Printer earlier today. Because of how big and heavy it is, it was a pain getting it up the stairs, and cleaning up my room just to set it up is going to be a huge task now. I'm thinking of making a review of it under Linux Hardware in the future.

thatd be sick, also very kind! keep an eye out for them. I unfourtunetly don't have the money to start a collection or anything like that

No one said anything about starting a collection. Just buy one or two for now, and if you want more later on, buy another one or two. When I get them for the kids I mentioned, and we play with them, I can see myself feeling like I'm their age again, especially since I'm sharing my childhood with them.

haha, nice! Ill consider it! ;)
I bought jumbo sidewalk chalk for my friend's 6 year old son and gave it to her yesterday. This morning, I texted her a link of chalk art ideas he could use to get creative. Some of these drawings are very impressive. https://blitsy.com/chalk-art-ideas/

oooh! I am a sucker for chalk art! Actually, on my old campus I, on good days would take some chalk out and draw on the sidewalks to the dorms usually including positive messages, funny quotes, and cartoon characters!

it was very fun! I miss doing that.
If you get any pictures from your friend if you and her are alright with it you should post it on the off-topic forums! I'd love to see the art!!

    G'day and G'night!

My best friend's father died earlier today. R.I.P Mr. Johnson. :(

Update: He also mentioned his cousin died shortly before this happened, which now makes things more difficult to deal with

2nd update: I was going to go to the service, but I needed to take my own dad to the doctor that day, and because he's been sick lately, now he's in the hospital with the flu. After he comes home, then I'll finally go and visit Tim and his family.
When logging in earlier, I saw that ad for Malibal laptops and decided to check it out. While I don't like to make snap judgments, I also don't understand how they expect to stay in business when their laptops cost an arm and a leg. I originally thought System76 was expensive, but now they take the cake.
Because my coworker asked me to fill in for him, today will officially be my last day. Although I'm excited to finally be moving onto bigger and better things, my relationships with everyone there are going to change in good and bad ways. I'll come there to be one of the new regulars though.

Thanks! I went there with my friend from high school the other day. After he left, and I came back from the bathroom, an older gentleman (whom I never met before) was sitting where my friend was originally, and we ended up having a pleasant conversation. What I loved about working there was the welcoming environment, and I'm happy I was able to get both men to feel that to an extent.
When I went shopping at the Ace Hardware by me earlier today, I was telling the manager about my birthday party at the bar I work at, and he said he's never been there. Because he's done a great job helping me, and I consider him a friend, I went to work for lunch and got him and his staff a large cheese pizza. When I gave it to him, he said "You're the man!" :)
Although I had to work at the bar last night, at least I got to celebrate New Years Eve with the friends I've made there. Happy New Year, everyone!
Earlier today, I had a lengthy debate over the phone with an older gentleman I know from the bar I work at. I've thoroughly researched adverse possession over the years and I'm interested in using that as a way to getting a place to live, but he claims that's a terrible idea and I'd be acting "irresponsibly" by doing so. While he is level-headed, it doesn't seem like he knows how adverse possession actually works.
Although its often fun to explore the ever-expanding world of the modern web, its also often addicting, and its something I've dealt with for years now. Because I'm so tired of catching myself in the act, I've decided I'm going to finally make myself do things that don't require it. This is why many older people say the early web was so much better than it is now, and why web alternatives are gaining traction.

I find the entertainment aspects to be the most addicting, and its FAR worse when get little kids hooked onto it. About a month ago, I was at work one night, and a family was about to leave. When the dad took his pocket PC out of his son's hands, he starts crying, but as soon as he gives it back to him, he's completely quiet. The dad even assures him "You got your tablet in the car!".

To me what's worse than that is that a lot of people are afraid to socialize and have relationships outside of either a work or internet setting...but i try not to judge, computers and internet are currently a big part of human life, and people will do what they do.

Yeah, because they've become indoctrinated into doing so. If everyone was a free-thinking, self-owning individualist, this wouldn't be a problem at all.
I've bringing quart containers of soup home from work and giving it to my neighbors to try, and two of them liked it so far. I plan to give the rest to my other neighbors tomorrow. They haven't had the time to visit the restaurant yet, but have mentioned they're interested in going one day. Its awesome to know simple things like that strengthens communities, but also promotes a local brand.
I decided to check out the MATE version of Mint, and its a noticeable improvement over XFCE. That being said, I'm going to set up my desktop today, and install Devuan on it. Wish me luck.
