Can Firefox be updated on Linux Mint 18.3?

And those like yourself have a habitual pattern of beating a dead horse, and absolutely refusing to take no for an answer. Newsflash! I don't take advice I never asked for, and don't want. Nor do I appreciate answers to questions I never asked, while the question I did ask is ignored or derided...

Can Firefox be updated on Linux Mint 18.3?

Nah, let's call a spade a spade. You don't actually want to help me. Rather becoming a habitual theme here lately, but that's fine.

Can Firefox be updated on Linux Mint 18.3?

For a couple years I have used this distro in LiveCD mode for internet shopping/banking. As I will not be moving on to a more recent rendition, I need to update the Firefox 57.0, as some Youtube videos no longer play, and eBay is cutting off the right side of the screen where the 'feedback'...

Freeze-ups while using Linux Mint in LiveCD mode

I'd trust cvedetails over the various Chicken Little sites: https://thebestvpn.com/vulnerability-alerts/ ....and I'm not seeing much to fret over: https://www.cvedetails.com/product/30860/Linuxmint-Linux-Mint.html?vendor_id=15181...

How to 'install' Waterfox on Linux Mint 18.3 Mate LiveCD?

DVD. Obviously some here use LiveCD mode for their own reasons. I use Linux Mint LiveCD for no persistence, same as with Kodachi and TAILS. I'd never use a flashdrive to run an OS.

Freeze-ups while using Linux Mint in LiveCD mode

My XP Pro has 741 vulnerabilities according to cvedetails. After 3+ years and 5000 hours exploring the internet, I'm still waiting for even one of all them much promised (threatened?) viruses, rootkits, trojans, and exploits to come calling. Just because something has x number of vulnerabilities...

Freeze-ups while using Linux Mint in LiveCD mode

I have the maximum RAM possible for OptiPlex 960 (8GB). Linux Mint 18.3 worked fine when I first started using it a year or two ago. Not really sure how many months it has been since I first noticed the problem, but nothing has changed on my rig since the beginning. Whenever I get a 'new' rig...

Freeze-ups while using Linux Mint in LiveCD mode

I have Linux Mint 19.2, and there is no improvement. Actually if you count the various changes in this revision, it's a big step down, as it is even less intuitive than 18.3. This seems to be a constant in the distros I have tried, which is why I tend to stick to a particular version I like...

Freeze-ups while using Linux Mint in LiveCD mode

So I use Linux Mint 18.3 Mate in LiveCD mode for online shopping/banking. During a one hour session I am encountering multiple freezes, where the keyboard and/or mouse stops responding, and I can hear the spin of the DVD burner speed up. Sometimes (but not always) I get a popup saying this page...

How to 'install' Waterfox on Linux Mint 18.3 Mate LiveCD?

So the deal is I use Linux Mint in LiveCD mode for online banking/shopping. I detest its default browser (Firefox), so the first thing I do is install Chromium, and then uninstall Firefox. Problem being I'm not a fan of Chromium either, and it does not work well with some sites, so I need...

A custom build may be in the works!

Yeah, already know about all the slipstreaming and workarounds to try and force a square peg into a round hole. I prefer the KISS principle, so if it don't fit, I find something that does. That is why I picked the legacy CPU and motherboards, instead of the 'latest'n'greatest'. These either have...

A custom build may be in the works!

Same here. I use Linux mint in LiveCD mode for online shopping and banking exclusively. Security vulnerabilities with it are negligible: https://www.cvedetails.com/vulnerability-list/vendor_id-15181/Linuxmint.html I'd bet even more so as a LiveCD. Firefox is a whole different cookie...

A custom build may be in the works!

I only have the case, so nothing has been bought yet, and nothing is set in stone. As mentioned in post #10, I simply did not find any other brands of motherboards that met the requirements. If there are, I did not see them. If anyone wants to suggest other brands/models that better meets the...

A custom build may be in the works!

For the past 3+ years I have used XP Pro and its outdated browsers. That averages to about 5000+ hours on the internet. To date I have had zero malware. No viruses, rootkits, trojans, keyloggers, etc. Not a one! Closest I ever came to that was 3 or 4 PUPs from downloading at MajorGeeks or...

A custom build may be in the works!

When I picked these motherboards, I was fulfilling certain requirements. Had to have minimum 16GB RAM capacity. Had to have as many PCI-e slots and SATA connectors as possible. Minimum four USB2.0 ports, VGA port, and decent reviews on NewEgg, Amazon, etc. I combed through somewhere over fifty...
