Better text editor or viewer than Glogg or Cat?

@ JasKinasis is always putting his best out there for people he doesn't even know or will never get any personal payment for. He is a real trooper. I have learned so much from him. I do not disable my ad blockers very often however because of him I have done so. This site deserves the income...

Two output files, each word to new line one file with count and one file without count.

I have found a couple things posted here and there but none seem to work. I attempted to modify a string I have to create words lists but got that wrong also. All I want to do is take all files in a folder, read each txt file and print a word per line into a new file. like below: word word...

Thanks for all of the inputs. I have a great deal better understanding of the process now. I should have posted in command line to start with. Thanks.

verbose with sort merge and does parallel help any?

Hey Guys and Gals. When using sort *.txt -m -u --parallel=4> 12.3-addon.txt (1)- is there any way to know where in the merge process it is? Tried using -v and --verbose but neither works. And, (2)- has anyone every checked to see if the --parallel=4 actually speeds things up? I found when...

Greping (or however) a huge list of IP's in one run?

    Tried this also. Inside a folder with the 8 files I was hoping to pull from. root@kali:/media/sf_Storage_1/Master# \egrep -o "[0-9]{1,3}\.[0-9]{1,3}\.[0-9]{1,3}\.[0-9]{1,3}" /*txt | sort -u > IP's.txt >

Greping (or however) a huge list of IP's in one run?

I have been unable to get this to work thus far. Here is what I did with a wild card with 8 files. Never went through though. root@kali:/media/sf_Storage_1/Master# \egrep -Ro "[0-9]{1,3}\.[0-9]{1,3}\.[0-9]{1,3}\.[0-9]{1,3}" /*.txt | sort -u > /list-of-Ips.txt root@kali:/media/sf_Storage_1/Master#

Greping (or however) a huge list of IP's in one run?

For multiple files in the same dir then is it possible to grep them all with a wildcard some way?

Greping (or however) a huge list of IP's in one run?

Grepable return from Nmap. All are one line but IP is in either 11 or 12 digits. They mostly repeat the IP where port is listed and then where the status is as in the example. I need the fastest method of cleaning this by removing all but the ip and removing the duplicate listing. So basically...

can you count letter or number frequency?

Thanks all. I have four dictionaries, I want to do my own char count to see for myself what chars are the most freq. Just read a book all about this topic that I found really interesting about words. Yea, my mom said I was weird. Used to read the newspapers/reference when I was 10.

Better text editor or viewer than Glogg or Cat?

I have played with a lot of things and having some luck. Just what I have found works at times and not others. May increase my ram some. Thank you all for the input.

Better text editor or viewer than Glogg or Cat?

Which is where I am at. Jobs are coming in hot and heavy so I am slow responding. From a month back till after the first of the year is my busiest time. Everyone now is forced to pull lost data from crashed drives they pulled out where they found that their backup system wasn't working as it...

Better text editor or viewer than Glogg or Cat?

With Vim, it's just slow opening. Glogg was opening them in a fraction of the time Vim would. But with Glogg it either crashed or froze. For standard stuff, yes it is great. With the file, They insist on one whole file. Split it once and got a call from their IT guy. They have to have it how...
