Here same issues with a ThinkPad T420, BIOS 83ET82WW (1.52 ) date: 06/04/2018. Running latest Linux MX 21.3, everything runs fine, but DVD does not, nether internal DVD device, nor external DVD via USB, external runs sometimes, depends on DVD (protection?), but internal drive is very strange...
