I just picked up a usb ethernet adapter for my laptop, for essentially those reasons. Only problem is there's no ethernet connection at work. So, I just run Linux, and keep it secured (insanely long passwords, MFA, etc.)

Yep, I'm giving InSync a look. While it's a bit on the spendy side for a Google Drive client, it works really well so far, and seems to be pretty stable. I'll keep you guys in the loop as to what I think of it as time progresses during the trial. Have fun :)

I use an Ethernet connection to my desktop computer, and a wireless one to my laptop. One reason is that the laptop doesn't have a dedicated Ethernet port1, or I'd be using that rather than wireless. I've noticed that my connection over Ethernet is much faster than my connection via wireless...

Ha, well, yeah. Still in the process of getting everything installed that I normally use. Will be tweaking things as I go. Also, in case anyone's curious, the DE is the latest Cinnamon in Mint 19.3. I'm really liking it so far, as it's lightweight and not too resource intensive...

I'm quite familiar with Cheese, have used it for at least a decade, or more. Unfortunately, it's not recognizing my camera, so no dice, there. I've also tried Camorama, to no avail. I'll be trying others as time permits. :) Thanks for the link about the FP reader, will take a look at it...

Hey guys, I've been having a bit of trouble, as described in the thread title, and have been hoping someone might have some ideas on how to resolve this. Other than the problems mentioned above, the laptop works flawlessly. So, I'm wondering if Linux is just not recognizing the hardware, either...

Still a relatively fresh install so far. I haven't had time, yet, to find a good background. Will update later after I find a good one. :) Also, running Linux Mint 19.3. Needs a few things fixed, such as the webcam, and fingerprint reader, but otherwise it's running very nicely on the Lenovo...
