I am looking for an app that I can use on a USB flash drive to manage partitions and the drive in general. I did install GParted and it seems like it only looks at the main HD.

Not sure how I will then get around this as I have Linux Mint bootable setup on the only other spare large flash drive and I would imagine I would then need to kill that to setup Foxclone.

Well this I am going to do for sure. Up until now it was not a huge issue installing Linux again as I was still getting into it so no real data was lost. The few data files I did have I had backed them up just in case I ran into an issue.

Well I have now installed Mint Cinnamon and am now busy tweaking it. I would like to thank everyone that offered help in trying to resolve the above issue I had with Ubuntu it is greatly appreciated.

Another interesting thing here when I tried to boot from the Mint USB boot disk I got the following error. Verification failed: (0x1A) Security Violation I had to disable secure boot to get it booted up.

I must admit I thought twice about installing this but I had it on my Windows installation and it gave me some neat tools to managed the laptop. Thinking about it now I would not be surprised if this is what cause my problem. Well from every fail there is a learning curve so being new to Linux...

Right I tried all this and still could not get into the root as mentioned, I just got errors back from each command. I think I am now just going to go back to Mint and do a clean install once again.
