Resizing the kernel's partition after boot using Gparted concerns.

Just out of interest - here's a list of the apps I particularly like on the BionicPup32 install. PupControl - a nicely done control center that proves a very straight forward gateway to getting most if not all critical hardware, software and network settings sorted out. PPM - Puppy Package...

Resizing the kernel's partition after boot using Gparted concerns.

I have quite a menagerie at the moment. Both Ubuntu and Lubuntu on an old HP Mini netbook, the Lubuntu is quite good. FreeBSD with Mate (not Mint) desktop on the old HP desktop - writiing on it now in fact, must admit the Mate desktop is snazzier than the one I have on Puppy. BionicPup on...

Resizing the kernel's partition after boot using Gparted concerns.

I was looking for a lightweight OS for a USB boot drive to run on old machines with relatively low specs. I was pleasantly surprised by BionicPup32 8.0. Years ago when I tried various distros I was very taken with PC-BSD which was based on FreeBSD, but came with a desktop already configured...

Resizing the kernel's partition after boot using Gparted concerns.

As part of its Desktop Setup, Puppy has a nice feature to define hotkeys, I created a handy terminal key, a kill switch, and a shutdown key.

Thanks. I tried about:config in Light, it didn't have the config settings you posted but it had a bunch of others, though I couldn't find anything similar to the device.sensors that might control the fan. I found an autoformfill setting to disable but that was for all forms not just credit...

Yes, can confirm Light browser has the same config options - looks like dangerous stuff, there's a public health warning that comes up before you can use it.

I use Light as my default browser but I also have Chromium installed which I use if Light has difficulties.

Thanks for the info. I took a gamble and reduced the Puppy OS partition with Gparted and created a linux swap partition on the USB. It doesn't seem to have caused any harm, and there does appear to have been a positive effect - the browser seems to handle a heavy load without stalling now. The...

Resizing the kernel's partition after boot using Gparted concerns.

I can't recall where, but, I think I used fat32 under advisement - it seems to have worked ok, anyway. I'm using a SanDisk Ultrafit 128GB 3.1 USB drive. I allocated an excessive 10GB to BionicPup32 8.0 the rest is ext4. I have it set up so that the filesystem, new files and apps are on the...

Resizing the kernel's partition after boot using Gparted concerns.

I have Puppy Linux installed on USB thumb drive. I partitioned the USB to have a FAT32 partition for PUPPY and a EXT4 partition for MYFILES. I anticipated the OS install would create its own linux swap partition or swapfile, but it didn't seem to. It might be using a swap partition on the...

    Bionicpup32 8.0 Epson XP-352 printer issue

Yeah, I know, but getting on that forum is about the same as hooking up the printer. Still waiting for an email to authenticate my registration.

    Bionicpup32 8.0 Epson XP-352 printer issue

SOLVED!!!!!! After a fashion. Registered my network printer with Epson Connect (link below) so that the printer gets assigned its own email address. Renamed the email address to something memorable, set the Printer Settings to not include Sender's Details (otherwise it wastes a page). Now can...

    I need your advice!

Puppy Linux is great if you don't mind not having a printer or can put up with sending PDFs to your smartphone to print off with Google Print.
