    Removing Linux Mint

Actually, after some trial and error I figured it out. Unfortunately, when I boot up with one flash drive running Ventoy and one with an ISO of Windows it goes through several installation steps before informing me that "Windows can't be installed on Drive 0 Partition 1 (System) because this...

    Removing Linux Mint

Thanks but I already have 4 laptops and a desktop running Windows which is why I thought I'd test drive Linux on this particular laptop. But I find that I seldom use it and since it's a decent machine I hate seeing it go to waste. I'm always up for a free upgrade but none of my machines is...

    Removing Linux Mint

Sorry but it's still not very clear... I've tried. Viable alternatives are either none existent or inadequate. Adobe Audition, Adobe Premiere, CCleaner, Guitar Pro, Band in a Box, various games... I don't like having to sign in every time I step away to make a cup of coffee and the machine goes...

    Removing Linux Mint

Haven't I already tried that with the flash drive of Windows 10?

    Removing Linux Mint

Sorry for any perceived density but do I download Ventoy on the laptop running Linux or one running Windows? And do I download the Windows.zip of Ventoy or Linux.zip to run, I assume, on the Linux machine?

    Removing Linux Mint

At the suggestion of a friend I installed Linux Mint onto a older, spare laptop that had been running sluggishly. After several months of usage I've come to the conclusion that while it may be a smoother running operating system there are too many long familiar apps that I prefer using and which...

    Maximum RAM capacity discrepancy

Thanks. I do appreciate your input but I'd really like someone to explain to me why Linux Mint tells me one thing while everybody else tells me another.

    Maximum RAM capacity discrepancy

So, Linux Mint is lying to me?

    Maximum RAM capacity discrepancy

I'm running Linux Mint on a 12 year old Acer Aspire 7745-7949 laptop. I'm wanting to increase its RAM and when I ran "sudo dmidecode -t 16" in Terminal it came back with a maximum capacity of 16GB. However, when I tried to confirm this with the manufacturer I was informed that this machine's...

How do I get an external keyboard to work with Mint 20?

Thank you! That kinda solved the issue in a somewhat round about way. I plugged the wireless unifying receiver in prior to boot up. I opened up a new document and started typing. Nothing was happening on the laptop but my other pc was reacting. The keyboard that I was trying to use for the...

How do I get an external keyboard to work with Mint 20?

I've got a laptop using Linux Mint Cinnamon 20 and am trying to use an external keyboard. I've tried both wired and wireless keyboards but neither seem to work. I've tested both out on another pc and both work A-OK so it's not the devices and it's also obviously not the laptop's USB ports...

Frustrated, as in steam pouring out of my ears!

Thank for the response. It's Mint 20 and I did another re-install. I was very deliberate about inputting the password and this time around it seems that all is well. "I would also recommend setting the machine to not use a screensaver, not go to sleep, and not lock the screen when idle. " -...

Frustrated, as in steam pouring out of my ears!

I've loaded up one of my laptops with Linux Mint Cinnamon on the advice of a techy friend. I installed it last September and hadn't used it since. Today when I tried getting onto it I realized that I'd forgotten the password. I scoured the web for ways of dealing with that to no avail. So, I...
