Privacy was just one of the reasons I wanted to switch to Linux. I also have a low-tech flip phone that I have had for 11 years...low cost and it does what I need it to do. I don't do facebook either. Snowden was right.
Yes, from what I have read here and on other sites, I am planning to try Ubuntu and Mint. I don't know when I will get around to it, but maybe it won't be too long in the near future. Thanks Leonardo for the suggestions!

Great advice from the above posters. There are several distros that will run on older computers. I'm running LXLE on an old Dell Inspiron 1545 (it runs better than my windows 10 computer) and am planning to check out some of the other distros.
